INTAS Calls for Applications for Summer School Support

The school must take place in these countries.

The summer school must be of high scientific quality and with international participation, namely must include at least five participants from at least two different INTAS members. Eligible are all schools offering courses specialised in scientific pre- and post-doctoral teaching and training in any scientific field lasting approximately 1-4 weeks. The school may take place all over the year.

Applicants: Eligible for an application for summer school support is any non-commercial organisation from the NIS or the INTAS members organising a summer school with at least five years experience in organising summer schools.

The maximum allowable INTAS grant per summer school is 25.000 € subject to the number of NIS scientists. The INTAS summer school grant must be fully used to support young scientists from the NIS of the age of 35 years or less at the starting date of the summer school by covering their travel- and subsistence costs and their conference fees.

Summer schools must start no later than 18 months after the closing date of the Call the

application is submitted to.

INTAS Call for Proposals for Infrastructure Actions

Conditions for Proposals for Infrastructure Actions

An INTAS infrastructure action is a technical project in response to the deteriorating situation in the infrastructure in the NIS and aims to support the maintenance or the establishment of scientific infrastructures in these countries. It shall help to overcome a serious problem in cience which solution is of high priority, that takes effect in the NIS and that serves the nterests of a wider NIS scientific community beyond the borders of a single NIS. It shall also contribute to the scientific cooperation between the INTAS members and the NIS and the better integration of the NIS in the international scientific community – i.e. it may foster scientific communication, provide access to scientific information or preserve scientific collections or scientific facilities of international importance.

Proposers: Eligible for a proposal is any NIS or INTAS member organisation or a consortium thereof. In case the proposal is submitted by several organisations the consortium must agree on a co-ordinator, either from the NIS or the INTAS members.

Typically, the INTAS grant for an infrastructure action will not exceed 50 000 Euro. However, the size of the grant may be increased if duly justified. INTAS funds must be used to create or maintain infrastructure taking effect in the NIS. The proposal must include cofinancing by other recognised co-funding institutions at least equalling the INTAS grant. The duration of an INTAS infrastructure action is up to a maximum of 24 months.

Infrastructure actions must start no later than 12 months after the closing date of the Call the proposal is submitted to.

INTAS Call for Proposals for INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshops

Conditions for Proposals for Strategic Scientific Workshops

INTAS strategic scientific workshops are a tool for INTAS for setting research priorities and to define its strategy by bringing together the scientific community at large involving scientists from the INTAS members and the NIS with representatives of national and international organisations in science, industries and other groups relevant for the aims of the workshop. They are also instruments in the INTAS FP6 NIS Information Network (ININ) established to promote the involvement of NIS scientific communities in the ERA and, in particular, in the thematic priority areas and the specific programmes of FP6 that are now open to participation of third countries including the NIS. The strategic workshops shall engage the participants in indepth and forward looking discussions about promising scientific research topics and potential areas of cooperation and aim to define future scientific priorities. In this context workshops may be used to present and to discuss INTAS projects. A particular effort may be made to bring together contractors of actions funded by the EC Framework Programme and INTAS project

participants. The strategic workshops shall also help to identify research groups and projects in a position to become integrated into the ERA, or even into specific FP6 actions.

Proposers: Eligible for a proposal is any NIS or INTAS member institution organising a conference in which the strategic workshop shall be integrated.

Typically, the INTAS grant to the conference organiser for an INTAS strategic workshop will not exceed 25.000 Euro. However, the size of the grant may be increased if duly justified.

INTAS strategic workshops must start no later than 12 months after the closing date of the Call the proposal is submitted to.
