Insurance Waiver Process
If evidence of pre-existing adequate coverage is provided before the insurance deadline, January 31, 2013 (Spring 2014), a waiver will be granted and the insurance charge will be removed. The pre-existing coverage must be valid at least from the first day of classes through the last day of December for the fall semester.
Students may obtain a waiver by presenting a signed and completed waiver form verifying that the minimum coverage’s are met (see process below). The completed and signed waiver form must be received by Office of Admissions at least 48 hours prior to the tuition due date, if you wish to pay the most accurate amount. The waiver form to be used for this certification can be obtained online or from the Office of Admissions. Once a waiver is approved, the insurance charge will be removed from the student's online account. The insurance processing usually takes no longer than seven days. If your fee isn't removed within seven days after you submit the waiver, please o check on your waiver status.
The waiver process will differ depending on the insurance plan you hold and on your current status. For the procedures you need to follow, please view the following sections.

Work Visa, Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen
If you are a permanent resident or U.S. citizen, or currently hold a work visa (H, TN, L) through a company other than the University of Kansas Medical Center, you are not required to show proof of insurance, and you do not need to complete a waiver form. Please ask the Office of Admissions to remove your insurance charge after verifying your immigration status.
