Course Information

Instructor: Mr. Kulcinski Room C-5

Text:World History: Patterns of Interaction.

At the end of this class, you will have a better understanding of the world, its various cultures, and their impact on the past, present, and future. History gives us the ability to make sense of the world we see around us. It is the story of who we are and where we come from. It also gives us the tools to make informed judgements and decisions about contemporary problems that face the world community, which, of course, includes you.

Materials Needed Everyday:

NotebookTextbookPen or Pencil

Because the scope of this class spans several hundred years of history, we will be moving fairly quickly through a large amount of material. You will be responsible for material presented in class which may not be found in your textbook. A graded research project will be introduced at a later date. Extra credit may be available throughout the year, but not during the last two weeks of the term.

Expectations:

Be in your seats when the bell rings.

Give your best effort each day.

Behave respectfully and appropriately. You, in turn, can expect to be treated with respect

All homework assignments are due the next day unless an alternate date is given.

Disciplinary problems will be dealt with on an individual or classroom basis.

Additional expectations may be added as the year goes on.

Responsibilities as a student:

  1. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to find out what was missed and make arrangements to complete them. You have two days to turn in any makeup homework for full points. I will not accept it after 5 days.
  2. If you need extra help, it is your responsibility to get that help. I am available before and after school. If needed, alternative times may be arranged.
  3. Your grade is your responsibility. If you want to do well, you need to make the effort to achieve the grade.

Grading Policy:

Grades will be based on a point system determined by daily homework, quizzes, tests, projects, and participation. The grading scale is as follows:
