for the District Assembly Delegate’s Handbook

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PASTOR'S WRITTEN REPORT FOR THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY DELEGATE'S HANDBOOK

1.  Your report should include the following:

a.  A brief story (2 paragraphs) that reflects “Next Gardens” or “Next Generations.” I am interested in hearing about the “planting” and “people” stories from this last year.

b.  A one sentence goal for the coming year.

c.  The last paragraph in your report should include this phrase…”By God’s help, (# of people) have come to Christ this year through the ministry of our church.” It is very important to provide this information.

Definitions:

(A) Worship Attendance - all worship services, Sunday AM, afternoon, Saturday or any weekday Worship Services

(B) Christian Education/Sunday School – all sessions involving Bible Teaching and approved curriculum, whether they meet in the church or community, on Sundays or at other times during the week.

(C) Mid-Week Ministries – all ministries held mid-week involving children, teens, youth, and adults whether they are prayer groups, Bible Studies, cell groups, etc.

(D) Active Participants in Congregational Life – total participants who are actively involved in the life of your congregation, including children and youth.

(E) Composite Ministries Total - see example listed here as a template for your context

A local church may report the following, for example:

(F) Participation in World Evangelism Fund – “Yes” or “No” (“Yes” you participated in the WEF or “No” you did not participate in the WEF.

(G) Participation in Pensions & Benefits Allocation – “Yes” or “No” (“Yes” you participated in the P& B Allocation or “No” you did not participate in the P&B Allocation.

(H) Participation in Education (ENC) Allocation – “Yes” or “No” (“Yes” you participated in the ENC Allocation or “No” you did not participate in the ENC Allocation.

(I) Participation in District Fund Allocations – “Yes” or “No” (“Yes” you participated in the District Fund Allocations or “No” you did not participate in the District Fund Allocations.

(J) Number of People Called to Ministry (this year) – The number of those from your church and ministry professing for the first time a call to ministry in this fiscal year.

(K) Number of New Believers - The number of people in your church and ministry that became followers of Jesus Christ this fiscal year.

(L) Number of Believer Baptisms - The number of people in your church and ministry that were baptized as believers.

(M) Number of New Nazarenes - The number of those joining the Church of the Nazarene this fiscal year by the profession of their faith and transfers from other denominations (not transfers from other Churches of the Nazarene).

(N) Membership Total (full and fellowship) - The number of members in your church at the close of the fiscal year (December) – both full members and fellowship members.

(O) Number of Compassionate Ministries – the number of various compassionate ministries served or initiated by your local church (food bank, clothes closet, blood mobiles, displaced families, crisis centers, etc.)

(P) Total Church Income – the dollar amount reported on Line 32 of the APR.

(Q) Total Giving to Missions (Dollars) – The dollar amount of giving by your church to the World Evangelism Fund (line 33 on the pastor’s report), plus Approved Specials (line 34 on the pastor’s report), and plus New Church Starts – Missionary Ministry Pledge (line 33c of the pastor’s report – Other Approved Mission Specials).

(R) Total Giving to “Others” (Dollars) – The dollar amount of giving by your church to any ministry, missions, and people outside your local body of believers (this would also include all allocations, missions giving, giving for the “Christmas Blessing,” (lines 36, 37, 40, 43, and 47 on the pastor’s report); this total SHOULD BE larger than the total of “Q” or the “Total Giving to Missions.”
