Advertisement Design

Objective: Create a magazine advertisement for your company’s product or service. Make it realistic! You will be using Power Point.

Background:

Mr. Stephenson has promoted you again!!!! You are the new Advertising Director for his company. You have been asked by the Chairman of the Board, to design an online magazine advertisement for Keyboarding Monthly. The deadline is coming!!!! The Chairman wants you to be professional, school appropriate and creative.

Advertisement Design:

What impression do you want to make? The advertisement will reach thousands of people! Are you up to the challenge? You can use your previous company’s product/service (business card or letter head project) or you can make up something new but you need to expand what you have to offer consumers. Why should they buy your product/service?

There are three main keys of advertising (your ad should do one--or all--of the above):

1. Create awareness: Name recognition. Consumers found in this stage are unaware of the product or service you have to offer. Example: “New offices opening up in Reston.”

2. Instill knowledge: In this stage, you let consumers know more detailed information about your product/service. Example: “More power than any other truck in its class…”

3. Move to Action: Get the consumer to act—buy or recommend. Motivate them to action!!! Discounts can be used here. Example: “buy one, get the second at ½ price.” “15% off if you purchase 2 or more.”

You will be using Power Point (Start, Programs, Productivity). Open up a blank presentation. Use the menu bars to create text boxes and image boxes to create your advertisements. You can create logos with other programs (Paint). Use images (see below). Be creative!!! Use magazines that are in class or at home to get ideas on how you want to plan/design your advertisement.

Images can be obtained through: 1) Clip Art; 2) Web search; 3) home images emailed to Mr. Stephenson or via flash drive; 4) or you can have Mr. Stephenson search for you.

Your advertisement must include:

1.  Product/Service that you are trying to sell.

2.  Company Name.

3.  Persuasive message why your product/service should be purchased (i.e. 2 for one special, 50% off, or other incentive.
