Instructions for Initial Credentialling Online
Please Note: at any time you can save and come back to your application once logged in to your Member Profile. You can access your application when you log in and on the right hand side of the screen, click on ‘My Applications’.
Before Starting your Application:
Complete Your CPD Portfolio
- Log in to your member profile
- On the right hand side of the screen click on ‘My CPD Portfolios’
- In the next screen choose the CPD Portfolio for the ‘Current’year with the date ending on your membership renewal date.
Complete your CPD Portfolio.
- Select your Scope of Practice area.
- Select your current Role and Scope of Practice (which area do you mainly work in?)
- Click on the ‘Learning Goals’ tab
- Click on ‘Add new goal’
- Fill out the pop up box to enter in your first goal and click on ‘save goal’
- To add another 2 or more goals, repeat steps 5 and 6 (You need a minimum of 3 goals)
- Once you have entered in all of your learning goals, click on the ‘CPD Activities’ tab
- Click on ‘Add new Activity’
- Fill out the pop up box in all fields
- Attach verification for your activity and click on ‘save activity’
- To add more CPD activities, repeat steps 10 to 12
- Once you have completed your CPD activities log, click on the ‘Learning Outcomes’ tab
- Click on ‘Add new outcome’
- Fill out the pop up box to enter in your first learning outcome, related to compulsory category 1 and click on ‘save outcome’
NOTE: You need to complete a ‘learning outcome’ related to each of the 3 compulsory categories.
- Click on ‘Add new outcome’
- Fill out the pop up box to enter in your second learning outcome, related to compulsory category 2 and click on ‘save outcome’
- Click on ‘Add new outcome’
- Fill out the pop up box to enter in your third learning outcome, related to compulsory category 3 and click on ‘save outcome’
This completes your CPD portfolio for the current year.
Note: Your initial credentialling application will draw CPD points from all activities entered within 12 months of the date of your initial credentialling application. This may mean that you need to complete your ‘past’ year CPD portfolio as well if the CPD points need to come from this year also.
If you need CPD activities/points from the ‘past’ year CPD portfolio:
Click on ‘Back to entire portfolio’ at the bottom of the screen.
Select the ‘past’ year portfolio with the date ending on your membership renewal date (one year earlier) and repeat steps 4-20.
- In the purple tabs running across the screen, go to: ‘Credentialling and Education’ and click on ‘Preparing your application’
- In the next screen click on ‘Initial Credentialling’.
- In the next screen, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on ‘Apply Now’
- In the next screen, scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
- You will see either of 2 buttons ‘Start Application’ OR ‘Pay membership renewal’
If your membership renewal is due within 5 months of you starting your initial credentialling application, you will need to renew your membership to proceed.
Once you have renewed your membership, repeat steps 21 -24 and this time you should see the ‘Start Application’ button.
- Click on the ‘Start Application’ button
- Click on Step 1:
- Complete the information about your Primary Discipline and attach your current certificate
- Also attach a current CV
- Click on the ‘Go to Step 2’ tab at the bottom of the page
- Complete your Graduate Certificate information and attach your certificate
- Click on the ‘Go to Step 3’ tab at the bottom of the page
- Complete your hours of practice in diabetes education information and attach your letter/s of verification
- Click on the ‘Go to Step 4’ tab at the bottom of the page
- Complete your Mentoring Partnership information and attach any relevant documents
- Click on the ‘Go to Step 5’ tab at the bottom of the page
- Complete your CPD Portfolio. Select your Scope of Practice area.
- Select your current Role and Scope of Practice (which area do you mainly work in?)
- Click on the ‘Learning Goals’ tab
- Click on ‘Prefill from CPD Portfolio’ – this should bring all of your goals you entered in your CPD portfolio into your application. The goals that get prefilled are those within the last 12 months.
- Click on the ‘CPD Activities’ tab
- Click on ‘Prefill from CPD Portfolio’ – this should bring all of your activities you entered in your CPD portfolio into your application. The activities that get prefilled are those within the last 12 months.
- Click on the ‘Learning Outcomes’ tab
- Click on ‘Prefill from CPD Portfolio’ – this should bring all of your outcomes you entered in your CPD portfolio into your application. The outcomes that get prefilled are those within the last 12 months.
To complete the CPD Portfolio section of your application, you need to enter 3 learning goals for next year.
- Click on ‘Add new goal’
- Fill out the pop up box to enter in your first goal (for the next year period) and click on ‘save goal’
- To add another 2 or more goals, repeat steps 41 and 42
- Once you are happy with your CPD Portfolio, Click on the ‘Go to Step 6’ tab at the bottom of the page
- Tick the box to confirm your referee’s report has been completed and sent to National Office
- At the bottom of the page click on ‘Preview and Finalise Application’
- From this page you can go back and review any of your application
- Tick the boxes to confirm you agree with statements to abide by ADEA Code of Conduct and other policies and documents
- Proceed to payment page and submit application payment
Your Initial Credentialling Application will then be submitted to ADEA for assessment. You will receive email notification of its submission.
- Once it has been assessed, you will receive email notification. Once you receive this, log back in to your member profile, click on ‘My Applications’.
- You will see your application and its status.
- If it has been approved, click on ‘Pay 2nd CDE Payment’
- Complete and submit your payment details. This will be payment of the Credentialling fee. Once we receive this, you are Credentialled!
- If your application is ‘Pending’ or ‘Rejected’, the Credentialling Officer will contact you to discuss extra information required and the next steps to follow.
