Instructions for EMS Micro-5 Microcell Sampling

Using the Factory Preset GilAir-5 Programmable Gilian Pump

Your GilAir-5 Programmable pump is pre-set at the factory to run at 5 LPM with a Micro-5 Microcell sampling cassette attached. Programs P1 and P2 are pre-set for a 5-minute and 10-minute sample, respectively. The following instructions outline running one of these sampling programs only. For more detailed operating instructions or product information, refer to the Operation & Service Manual P/N 800880M.

1)  Take a fresh Micro-5 Microcell cassette and remove the inlet and outlet plugs. Attach the cassette outlet to the pump inlet using a short piece of tubing.

2)  Using a small phillips screwdriver, loosen the screws of the anti-tamper covers located on the front and side of the pump, so that the covers will swing downward out of the way.

·  CAUTION: Do not change the Flow Adj. It is pre-set for 5LPM with a cassette in place.

·  CAUTION: Do not depress the PROG button. Programs P1 and P2 are pre-set.

3)  Using a ballpoint pen or paper clip, depress the MODE/HOLD button five times. This will produce a series of displays that may be ignored for the purpose of this procedure. The final display will alternate between the word LAST, the run time (0) and the program in which the unit was last run (P1 through P6 or PC).

4)  To run a 5-minute sample – Program P1:

·  If the pump is already in the desired P1 program, start the pump by setting the power switch to the On position, and re-securing the anti-tamper covers.

·  If the pump is in another program, depress the ▲ and ▼ buttons to scroll to program P1, then set the power switch to the On position and re-secure the anti-tamper covers.

·  At the end of the sampling sequence the pump will shut off and display a 5 to indicate the 5-minute sample time.

5)  To run a 10-minute sample – Program P2:

·  If the pump is already in the desired P2 program, start the pump by setting the power switch to the On position, and re-securing the anti-tamper covers.

·  If the pump is in another program, depress the ▲ and ▼ buttons to scroll to program P2, then set the power switch to the On position and re-secure the anti-tamper covers.

·  At the end of the sampling sequence the pump will shut off and display a 10 to indicate the 10-minute sample time.
