For Hurricane KATRINA, I worked 323 days continuous12 plus hrs./day 7 days a week distributing shelters to the victims in New Orleans and Plaquemines parish working under Regulations guidelines and methods provided by the Federal disaster agency managing and coordinating recovery efforts
I was awarded a recognition Commemorative achievement coin for my performance and dedicationI was truly proud to be part of this team.
As a damage assessment specialist / inspector My duties included:
• Inspections of mobile homes and travel trailers at the staging areas as the units came in and were stored at the Air Force Base in Belle Chasse La
• Supervising Inspector for all contractors and inspected their work such as the blocking power water and sewer installations and final clean up
• Performed Assessments and Surveys to determine if a location was feasible or non-feasible to place a Travel Trailer Park model or Mobile Home on an applicant’s site (S.I.R‘s). site inspection request’s
• Received Landowner’s authorizations ingress-egress agreements
• Unit installation work order’s
• Private site installation work orders
• Temporary housing unit inspections
• Ready for occupancy status
• Lease in the applicants. And Transitioning victims into shelters
• QC/QA of all paperwork and keep track of barcodes V.I.N. #’s names and addresses
• Installation and Deactivation / decommissioning of travel trailers
• I also had to Create update spreadsheets daily and Scan paperwork to the main database for the Tri-Parish’s Orleans and Plaquemines Parishes.
• I worked all phases of the distribution delivery and inspection (From the Cradle to the Grave) of more than 8000 mobile homes and travel trailers
• I hold a current trustworthy and reliability background check with the FBI
• Able to pass a hair follicle drug screen
• Hold a Valid current passport
• I am a U.S. born citizen
• Clean background investigation clearance
• Able to travel and obtain and maintain a Government credit card with proof of Selective service registration and TWIC card Transportation Worker Identification Credential
• I am Also certified to work with radioactive materials holding Radiation Safety certification and license with 38 years in Non-Destructive and visual inspection
• Clean Valid Driver License
• Radiation Safety certification and license
This was a truly special job assignment and I would be proud to help in the recovery again will work 7/12’s or longer for the duration of the recoveryI was also the 2nd to last in the field to leave during the Katrina recovery out of several hundred inspectors
