Intensive Course

AIMS:

This intensive course is designed to enable learners to understand principles, practices and legislation for the initial verification, periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting of electrical installations with statutory and non-statutory regulations and requirements. Its content is the knowledge needed by a learner to underpin the application of skills for the inspection, testing, commissioning, condition reporting and certification of electrical installations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course delegates will:

· understand the requirements for completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations

· understand the requirements for initial verification of electrical installations

· understand the requirements for inspecting, testing and recording the condition of electrical installations

· understand the requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to their being placed into service and completing periodic inspections thereafter

· understand the requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations

· understand the requirements for the safe testing of electrical installations which have been placed in service

· understand the difference between periodic inspection and initial verification

· understand the requirements for testing before circuits are energised

· understand the requirements for testing energised installations

· understand the requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation

· understand the requirements for the completion of electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation

· be able to confirm safety of system and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning

· be able to carry out inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service and then periodically thereafter

· be able to test electrical installations both prior to them being placed into service and whilst in service

· be able to commission electro technical systems and equipment

· produce a condition report with recorded observations and classifications

PRIOR ATTAINMENT: It is preferable that you have your 17th edition with first

amendments 2011 prior to this course

DURATION: 6 days plus, 1 day practical assessment and 2 evening

written exams.

ASSESSMENT: Multiple choice exam, written exams, practical assessment

ACCREDITATION: C&G 2394-01 Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations

C&G 2395-01 Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
