POST TITLE:Pathway Leader,Graphic Communication – Extended Diploma

REPORTING TO:Course Leader

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST:

To devise and develop pathway curriculum within the ExtendedDiploma Course, leading on administration duties for this pathway. To manage and supervise staff teaching within the pathway and deliver general and pathway specific teaching to students.

MAIN DUTIES:

  1. To teach an annually agreed timetable as specified in the College’s current Management Guidelines and the Framework for Lecturing Posts;
  2. To provide and deliver a high quality learning experience to students on the courses(s) on which you are teaching, utilising a variety a variety of methods to ensure all students are engaged and make progress;
  3. To act as Pathway Leader and be responsible for the delivery of the Pathway as determined by the Course Leader. These duties include managing and co-ordinating the resourcing, delivery, administration and assessment process following College procedures;
  4. To build relationships with internal HE programmes and devise and participate in events to facilitate internal progression and the successful transition to higher education;
  5. To ensure that College procedures around students, student support and course management are followed;
  6. To assist the Course Leader in the management of the course.
  7. To liaise with feeder courses including internal courses, attend open days and events, and participate in interviews to ensure target application and enrolment figures are met.
  8. To act as a personal tutor and monitor the tutoring arrangements for the Pathway in line with College procedures. This may include disciplining students for academic and behavioural reasons following procedures and monitoring the students’ welfare making referrals where necessary;
  9. To ensure where necessary student induction processes are followed according to procedures and guidelines, ensuring that academic regulations are explained and made available to students.
  10. To carry out designated non-teaching duties. This may include participating in the College’s procedures for the initial assessment of students; identifying and referring to the Course Leader students with Special learning Difficulties and Disabilities (SLDD); assisting the Course leader to ensure that Student Learning Agreements and Contracts are issued and completed following College procedures; writing student references and ensuring efficient progress of all students applications through UCAS, employment or other applications.
  11. To participate within the College’s Quality Assessment processes and procedures. Such activities will include:-
  • Assisting in monitoring the Quality Standards for the course and acting on any variations to ensure they are met.
  • Actively participating in Annual Course review and Self-Assessment, assisting in developing an Action Plan to bring about improvements and participating in monitoring its outcomes and responding to variations in performance accordingly.
  • Contributing to the college’s strategic planning process as required;
  • Undertaking lesson observations;
  • Ensuring that the content and delivery of pathway material conforms with the Course standards and standardisations.
  1. To manage any budgets allocated by the Course Leader within an expenditure profile agreed in advance following the College’s Financial Regulations and Procedures.
  1. To adhere to and monitor the College’s Health and Safety policies and procedures. To ensure that course staff and students abide by the requirements of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act and all regulations and advisory codes of practice published by statutory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive and to perform any College wide designated duties with regard to Health and Safety and the security of the College.;

OTHER:

  1. To comply with all relevant College policies and procedures.
  2. In the context of College and personal development to carry out any other duties that are commensurate with the post as directed by the line manager
