Product Development Engineer – Mechatronics (Robotics)

With our multi-talented electro-mechanical engineering team, we specialise in next-generation NDT (non-destructive-testing) crawling robots that will operate safely and efficiently in arduous (hazardous or difficult) working environments,providing cost effective inspection solutions to industries such as: Renewable Energy, Medical Electrical Equipment Applications, Aerospace, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas,Power Generation, Transport and Maritime.

Role:

We are looking for a self-motivated and creative Product Development Engineer, with strong innovative technical competencies to develop prototype products with a multi-disciplinary approach in this challenging role.

You will be working with our product development team; specialising in automation subsystems design, including selection of detailed components, such as motors, drives and sensors. The successful candidate will have proven proficiency in collaborating and liaising with clients and engineers, coupled with commercial robot systemsdesign knowledge to optimise designs of existing and new automation and robotic system products.

You will have experience of overcomingchallengesin complex technical design to derive effective requiredelectro-mechanical technical systems, solutions and provide expertise of product quality control analysis,which will be paramount in the implementation of relevant safety codes and best practice standardised and regulatory requirements.

Experience:

  1. Excellent first degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related discipline
  2. High level of proficiency in CAD environments (Solid Works)
  3. Experience of manufacturing processes and create 2D drawings for manufacture to ISO 8888
  4. Experience of the full engineering product development lifecycle
  5. 5+ years hands-on experience of full phases of the product engineering lifecycle
  6. Understand automated systems, robots, 2D/3D computer vision path planning
  7. A good grasp of planning for robotics, machine learning and perception and sensing for robot guidance
  8. An understanding of DCS, SCADA and automation communication networks and protocols
  9. Experience of New product development, risk analysis and risk mitigation
  10. Strong communicator (English), additional language skills are welcome
  11. A flexible approach to travel as required
