International Visiting Research Fellowships
The ESRCCBAR Stem Cell Initiative is now well established with a mix of research projects and other activities exploring the contemporary dynamics of this field,. A sum of £30k is available to enable researchers to exchange research results, develop a better understanding of host/visitor research activity in the field, and to establish longer term collaboration beyond the duration of the visit itself. It is intended that the funds will be used to enable researchers from abroad to spend periods of time within UK centres or research groups supported by the initiative, and also to allow those supported by the CBAR initiativeto spend periods of time abroad, adding value to their existing work. Each Fellowship will be supported for up to a period of three months and will cover travel, accommodation and subsistence costs, but not salary.
Objectives of the Fellowship
- To provide international data and analysis that extends the CBAR Initiative’swork on developing a social science approach to key areas including innovation, regulation and governance, and considerations relating to the public engagement with the field
- To provide opportunities for improved international collaboration and networking within the stem cell field
- To undertake visits to overseas research sites to collect up-to-date information on developments abroad
Those interestedare invited to submit proposals to the CBAR office at the University of Yorkfor consideration. These should provide detailed plans for overseas visits or to host visiting fellows to undertake equivalent work in the UK. It is expected that the duration of the visits would be in the range of between one to three months. The Fellow will be expected to provide a report of 3000 words within 3 months of the completion of the Fellowship.
The period for the Fellowships fall between 1st January 2007and 31st December 2008. The office will notify successful applications within two weeks. Proposals may be received anytime between October 1 2006 and June 1 2008. A brief form of application is attached. Applicants from outside the UK must apply through their UKhosting institution and their application must be submitted with a supporting letter from that institution. Funds will then be held by the UK institution and the visiting fellow with then make any claims for travel and subsistence reimbursement from that institution.
