The regular council meeting was called to order by Tajinder Dhadwar and Gurrinder Pawan at 7:00 p.m. and a quorumwas present.

Pro Grant Workshop

-Parent workshop free to attendees scheduled for May 23rd 10-3PM

-Hosted by Kate Jones, Child Temperament specialist

-The following workshops are available -

• Understanding my kids behaviour
• Stressed out kids
• Homework wars
• Ins / outs of positive communication

-Council Members voted on Stressed out Kids and In/Outs of positive Communication

-Registration slips to be sent home in the next 2 weeks

Fundraising Update (same from March minutes)

-To date we have raised approx. $2500

-Walkathon fundraiser on May 8th

Principal / VP Update

-April 16 – Excellence in Eloquence – Speech competition Grade 4, 5, 6

-FI / Core FR concert, April 17, a French concert will be held for students in grade 4-6 and core French

-Sculpturing at the Living Arts , April 22 /23– Grades 6-8

-Music Monday Festival, May 4 – school wide concert

-Spotlight on Sheridan, May 7 Gr. 7-8, visit to campus

-Annie musical, May 6 / 7, tickets sold in advance

-Sultans’ of Symphony, May 14, visiting school, Gr. 4-8

-Kindergarten’s welcome, May 19

Student Safety / Drop Off and Pick Up @ ElbernMarkell

-Parent Council will no longer be discussing this issue at meetings

-If there are any further concerns parents are to reach out to Brampton Safety

Changes to Ontario’s Sex Education Curriculum

-There are no further updates from school

-Training for administration in May and more details to come on implementation in September
