Purpose:

-To navigate a computer using the keyboard(No mouse)

-Check your typing speed in character per minute (wpm)

Procedure

  1. Open a new writer document.
    Make a bold and underlinedand centered title “InfoTech 11: Lab 1” [3 marks]
    (Hint: Use Ctrl-B, Ctrl-U, Shift-left, Shift-right, or Alt or F10)
    Save the document (Ctrl-S) as “11_Yourname_Lab1.doc” on the desktop. [1 mark]
  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to
    login in using ALT-TAB or create account
    TAB over to start the clock. Press down to see the whole page. Copy the text out by typing. When you are finished, press SHIFT-TAB then ENTER to stop the clock.
    When you have the result, press the Print Screen key to take a picture of the screen. Switch to the Word document (ALT-TAB) and paste the picture in (CTRL-V). [1]
    Complete the Observations and Questions part of the lab.
    Copy the Observation Table into your MS Word file and fill in what happens when you press each key.
    Copy the questions into your MS Word file and type your answers in.
  2. Hand in via Turn off your computer.
