JOB DESCRIPTION

AGE-LEVEL MINISTRY COORDINATOR

Goal: To provide paid staff support for the many volunteers who work within some of the ministries of Saint John’s - Newberry UMC, especially, those geared towards specific age groups within the congregation.

Skill Sets/Gifts:

  1. An evident faith in Jesus Christ and Christ’s Church
  2. An ability to build relationships with people of all ages, including staff, volunteers, and those we serve, while creating an atmosphere of cooperation and inspiration
  3. An ability to recruit and train volunteers
  4. An ability to follow-through; an attention to detail

Duties:

  1. To oversee ALL age-level ministries, with an emphasis upon some of our current ministries, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Children & Youth ministries
  2. To recruit and train all necessary volunteers for our age-level ministries
  3. To be responsible for all necessary paperwork and/or clearances for volunteers
  4. To arrange for all necessary materials, supplies, and equipment for our age-level ministries
  5. To convene the Children & Youth Ministry Team, coordinating schedules, designating leaders, addressing concerns, among other responsibilities
  6. To relate to the other teams in the Council On Ministries (COM), asking this question: “As a servant leader, what can I (we) do to support your ministry?”
  7. To build some additional ministries targeting some of the other age-levels, particularly, Young Adults and Older Adults

Working Relations:

  1. The Age-Level Ministry Coordinator shall perform the above duties under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee
  2. Questions or problems related to the job description should be discussed with the Senior Pastor and/or the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee
  3. The Age-Level Ministry Coordinator shall work in cooperation with other staff members and/or existing committees and teams at StJNUMC
  4. The Age-Level Ministry Coordinator will participate in an annual review with the Senior Pastor and representatives from the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee

Conditions of Employment:

  1. The Age-Level Ministry Coordinator shall be hired upon recommendation of the Senior Pastor and the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee
  2. Financial compensation, including salary, will be set at a level mutually agreed upon by the Coordinator and the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee, under guidelines established by the Susquehanna Conference of The United Methodist Church, when applicable.
  3. The Age-Level Ministry Coordinator is expected to work an average of 20 hours per week.
  4. If for any reason the employee or the StJNUMC wishes to end the employment relationship, a fourteen-day written notice will be given, if possible, to the other party
