The Organisation:

The Role:

To support the Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer in all aspects of Information Governance with specific emphasis being given to elements of work associated with the University of Sunderland’s plan to meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Act as operational support in the following areas:-

  • General Data Protection Regulation preparedness:
  • To assist with horizon scanning activities, ensuring that research is carried out regularly on the most recent developments in the area of GDPR and preparation of draft reports communicating such changes
  • To assist with the development and maintenance of registers of information held by the University (examples include):
  • Information Asset Register
  • Register of Fair Processing / privacy notices
  • Register of Privacy Impact Assessments and Supplier Information Security Assessments
  • Register of Data Sharing Agreements
  • To assist with drafting model data sharing agreements to bring them in line with the requirements of GDPR
  • To assist with the initial drafting of GDPR compliant Fair Processing / Privacy Notices
  • To support individuals across the University to ensure that actions outlined in GDPR compliance reports are implemented, collecting details of the changes made and reflecting these changes in the centrally managed Information Asset Register

To act as an additional support at key times in the following areas:

  • Data Protection:
  • Assisting with requests for information, should large volumes of requests for information be experienced (this is particularly likely when the law changes in May 2018, and individuals test the new law)
  • Information Governance and Cyber Security:
  • Assisting the Information Governance Manager and Cyber Security Architect in developing marketing and promotional material to promote a secure environment, with particular initial attention to Cyber Security and GDPR
  • Records Management
  • Assist in the development and roll out of training to staff across the University on the University’s approach to off-site storage, further securing this offering ensuring compliance with GDPR
