Abstract

Faith and Education

A key purpose of education is to contribute to the preparation of young people for inclusion in our complex society. Does faith education have a role to play in this process? Is there a constitutional basis for considering this? Are there limitations on the extent to which we can claim this as a right? Are there ways in which faith communities can play a stronger role in supporting schools as institutions in the broader role that they play in society? Are faith communities doing enough to contribute to nourishing schools in community?
