Information for the consideration of endosulfan

Romania complies with the European Union legislation related to plant protection products, namely Council Directive 91/414/EEC concerning the placing of plant protection products on the marketand Commission Decision 2005/864/ECconcerning the non-inclusion of endosulfan in Annex I to Council Directive 91/414/EEC and the withdrawal of authorisations for plant protection products containing this active substance.

By way of derogation from art. 3 of the Commission Decision 2005/864/EC a period of grace was granted for Romania for disposal, storage, placing on the market and use of existing stocks of plant protection products containing the active substance endosulfan, which expired at31 December 2007.

Within the period 2005-2007 in Romania were used two products for plant protection containing endosulfan as active substance: Thionex 35 EC (35 %) and Endosin 10 G (5%), as presented in the table below:
