Information for Captains
For your convenience the County Association has created a guide to ensure that you and your team are up to date with current County, Umpire, and Fixture Policies and to ensure you have a successful season.
County Expectations
•Players are made aware of the County’s new Code of Codes and promote them within their club and to their spectators.
•Players do not directly swear to players or officials on court. Players are reminded to control their tempers at all times.
•Captains should always promote good sportsmanship and always thank the umpires at the end of the match and give three cheers to the opposition.
•Should a team wish to make a complaint against their opponents they should contact the County Secretary within 48 hours who will then inform the County Chair, Fixture Secretary and Umpire Secretary. They will then decide if the complaint needs to go further to the Executive Committee.
Umpire Polices
•Players are reminded to respect the decisions of all umpires.
•Only captains are permitted at half time breaks to speak to the umpires. This can be to draw their attention to a potential problem being faced by a player on court by her opponent or spectators. It is better to discuss any problems with the umpires rather than allow them to escalate on court and complain later when the match has finished.
•Should a team wish to complain about an umpire for making consistent mistakes they must notify the umpire in question and the opposition after the match and contact the Umpire Secretary within 48 hours, by completing the Umpire Complaint form which can be found on the County website.
Fixture Policies
•Score cards should be returned within 2 days of the match taking place to Mel Reynolds.
•Rearranged matches must take place within the 7 days either side of the original date and Mel Reynolds (Fixture Committee member) should be informed. Both teams must agree to the change.
•Cup trophies should always be returned before the Semi Finals to a member of the Fixture Committee.
•League trophies should always be returned by April’s County Meeting to the Fixture Secretary.
