Milan, 3 March 2016 – The Fuori Salone is set to be the showcase for Red Bull UpCycling, the creative recycling project in which the students of IED Milano worked on giving a new lease of life to 2 Red Bull Minis and to visibility materials from bars and restaurants, such as signs, bar counters and coolers, turning them into functional design works.

Roll holders, furnishings and bicycle racks are just a few of the objects that will be presented at the Hotel nhow Milano (via Tortona 35 - Sala Miami), proposed by 30 students from the IED courses in Interior, Product and Fashion Design, who during a three-day workshop gave vent to their creativity, surrounded by the iconic energy drink cars and products in disuse that would otherwise have been discarded.

Among the projects put forward, only 18 were selected by the jury made up of IED teaching staff and Red Bull representatives to be placed on display for the first time during Milan Design Week 2016. After this period on show at the top design event, sixteen of the objects will be positioned in sixteen different spots in Milan, Bologna, Rome and Naples, where they will become an integral part of the furnishings, while IED Milano will host a number of functional objects provided by the students.

Red Bull UpCycling is the next step up on the Red Bull Recycle reusability programme, organised by Red Bull over the last two years with the aim of spreading the word on the sustainability and reusability of materials: by giving objects a new lease of life, it is possible to cut consumption of new raw materials and of energy, thus significantly reducing environmental impact.
