The role of Opportunity Area coordinator is a new one. Maths Hubs that have an Opportunity Area within their region have been given ring-fenced finances for their OA.

This role will involve considering how to use that money wisely to improve maths teaching at both primary and secondary level in Fenland and East Cambs.

An applicant needs to be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of the Maths Hub team. They need to be able to think creatively about how to improve outcomes for students through resourcing their teachers.

Enthusiasm for maths and a supportive approach to teachers is essential. Ability to travel around the county is also essential (travel costs are reimbursed). Knowledge of the OA is highly valued.

Confirmation of school commitment (electronic signatures)

  • The applicant will be released from school commitments for onehalf day or one whole day per week (can be two half days)
  • A payment of 10%/20% of the applicant’s gross salary will be paid by the Hub in monthly installments until 31st Aug 2018.
  • The school will support the work of the applicant and the work of the Hub in general
