Job Description

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports to: Programme Manager – Vocational and Work.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Pro-actively promote and provide Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance to support student transition planning and support NS students at Ullenwood and other locations to secure further education placements or meaningful occupations.

PRIMARY TASKS:

  • To effectively research and deliver careers education, information advice and guidance in line with college and the National Framework for Careers Education and Guidance.
  • To work with individual students through a case management approach, providing career information, advice and guidance in line with the national framework for CEG.
  • To provide training for groups of students and staff relating to IAG, as required.
  • To develop and maintain the CEIAG resource area and produce appropriate resources in accessible formats to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • To work with internal and external multidisciplinary contacts to devise support strategies for individuals moving on to further education to give the best chance for a successful placement.
  • To develop systems and processes, including clear recording procedures, to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to support individual students’ outcomes.
  • To contribute to the preparation for regular IAG standard assessments, liaising with internal multidisciplinary contacts in order to gain evidence of IAG good practice.
  • To work with key staff to ensure transition outcomes are in line with Education, Health and Care Plans to meet the individual needs of each learner.
  • To contribute to student transition reviews, focus and team meetings.
  • To fulfil requirements of college appraisal and support and development systems, supporting effective practice.
  • To carry out such other duties as may be requiredby theDirector of Personalised Development or the Assistant Principal.

Experience /
  • Experience of providing information, advice and guidance
  • Experience of liaison with a range of agencies ie Connexions, Social Services etc.
  • Experience of working with young people who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Familiarity of education or training environments.
  • Experience in managing resources
  • Experience in a customer related/service environment.
  • Using information technology to produce and record information.
  • Familiarity with administration and organisational procedures.

  • Experience in delivering training
  • Experience and Knowledge of Department of Work and Pensions benefit entitlements for disabled people.

Qualifications /
  • Minimum of L4IAG qualification on appointment, with willingness to progress

  • Teaching or other relevant qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral English
  • Well-organised and able to meet deadlines.
