Individual Artist Bursary Programme 2018

This bursary programme is designed to further the development of individual artists, from any discipline,for any purpose that will demonstratively contribute to an artist’s development.
Among such purposes, the scheme may be used to offset the expenses of the following –
- Participation in ad-hoc education such as mentoring, research or short-term courses.
- Development of new work for exhibition, publication or presentation.
- Participation in conventional part-time or full-time education where other sources of public funding are unavailable.
- Contribute to the removal of existing barriers to an artist’s development.
Bursary amounts depend on available resources, number of applicants and the quality of applications.
- Applicants must have been born or currently live in County Roscommon.
- The activity for which the artist wishes to apply must commence between 1st May 2018 and 31st December 2018.
- Assistance will be given only in respect of activity that would, in the opinion of the Council, demonstratively contribute to the artist’s development.
- Bursaries will be paid only after proof of activity commencing has been submitted. This may take the form of copy of receipt of course fees, letter from host of course/activity or other more appropriate verification agreed with the Arts Office.Under no circumstances will bursaries be paid out without this back-up information.
- Retrospective applications will not be considered.
- The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is 5pm, Monday 12th March 2018. Late applications will not be considered.
Applications toInclude:
- Completed Application Form.
- Artists Curriculum Vitae
- Copies of any material relevant to the application (letters of invitation, course content etc.)
- Photographic Images (5 images) should be either hardcopy/ disc / emailed 15MB Folder(jpeg format) and all multimedia work should be PC or DVD accessible.
Information submitted will only be returned if a stamped addressed envelope is submitted along with the application. If an SAE is not supplied, it is presumed that the information supplied is not required to be returned.
Please note that if you do not provide supporting documentation, your application will be disqualified.
Decisions are made by an external panel and the panel’s decision is final.
Applications are assessed using the following criteria –
- Track record of artist (or potential for an emerging artist)
- Proven commitment to high quality arts practice
- Likely benefit of activity on artist’s practice
- In the case of courses, mentoring etc. – the quality and excellence of those activities, mentors or courses.
