Summary

/ The Behavioral Health Coordinator develops, manages, and integrates behavioral health services into primary care settings such that IHC clinics provide behavioral health services at the clinic and through the outreach programs. The Behavioral Health Coordinator develops and supports community behavioral health resources and contract negotiations on behalf of IHC.
Evaluation of performance / Performance will be evaluated based on meeting specific goals, productivity measures, employee satisfaction scores, and other quality indicators for this position such as: IHC strategic objectives; site strategic objectives; functional capabilities; leadership and/or employee capabilities; IHC commitments, quality measures, and productivity measures.
Application of knowledge / Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and methods of behavioral health care services; knowledge of not-for-profit funding, grant application and management of government funds, specifically relating to FQHCs. Requires knowledge of an extensive body of rules and regulations and procedures applicable to project and document management and administrative support, along with knowledge of IHC’s strategic goals and organizational structure.
Behavioral Health Services Development:
  • Develops new, modified, or continuously improved processes and practices.
  • Trains staff on behavioral health issues.
  • Develops overall goals and objectives annually and conducts quarterly assessments of progress toward achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Assists in developing productivity measures, employee satisfaction scores, and other quality indicators for behavioral health services.
Behavioral Health Services Administration and Management
  • Conducts regular staff meetings with entire behavioral health services team, to include contract and community members.
  • Provides input on staff performance appraisals.
  • Participates in patient care coordination to ensure proper communication between clinical associates, patients, and referral sources.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and reports on behavioral health services quality indicators.
Community Representative:
  • Represents IHC before the community and in contacts with other agencies, often involving complex explanation, interpretation and influence.
  • Recruits behavioral health service providers and contractorsfor IHC’s behavioral health services team.
  • Promotes public awareness of IHC behavioral health services through quarterly community education activities and participates in professional organizations.

Job controls and complexity / Receives overall goals, objectives, priorities, and deadlines; interpretscurrent guidelines and creates or revises current policies, processes, and procedures for new methods if required. Work requires multiple processes, procedures, and policies in the behavioral health services field and the not-for-profit and FQHC behavioral health services delivery model. Work has a controlling impact in day-to-day operation of behavioral health services within the clinic and involves leadership and creativity. Work affects the IHC’s behavioral health services program in a substantial and demonstrable way; influences IHC operations; and impacts many clients needing these services.
Nature and purpose of contacts / Unstructured contacts with patients, IHC leadership, community behavioral health services providers, etc. Influences and persuades others through debate, expertise, and authority with people who may be skeptical, resistant to change, or have divergent views.

Technology –proficient in computer skills, including typing and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, eCW, etc.
Experience, education, degrees, licenses / Masters degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in business, nursing, public administration, or the social sciences preferred. If no formal degree, 5 years experience of direct field program management and program implementation.Three (3) to five (5) years’ prior administrative and supervisory experience required. Spanish language skills preferred.
Physical demands and work environment / Majority of work is non-strenuous with some onsite work at or visits to migrant farm camps and produce processing centers; some, albeit limited, potential risk from disgruntled or disoriented patients, employees, and/or field environment. Must be able to operate general office equipment, including computers, telephone, etc. Travel is required to attend monthly managers’ meetings and visits to clinics and community health care provider organizations.
