Class Cancellations

Any and all class cancellations will be announced by the Dean’s office over the appropriate and multiple media outlets. Refer to the Ohio University quarter schedule for holidays for other closing dates.

Final Exams

OhioUniversity maintains rigid requirements concerning final exams. Each course, according to University policy, will have an exam. The final exam in this course will fall within the designated final exam week according to University policy. (A project/paper may be assigned in lieu of a final.)

Attendance and Participation Policy

Include grading policy for attendance if applicable, whether student needs to notify the instructor, expected classroom behavior, make-up policy for missed assignments.

(EX: Any missed assignments will be due within a week for partial credit. It is the responsibility of the student to make the necessary arrangements with the instructor.)

Cell Phone Policy

EX: All cell phones should be set to vibrate or turned off during class. Receiving phone calls and text messaging are not permitted in the classroom. During testing, any cell phone in view may impact the student’s test grade.

AOutstanding work. The “A” student has demonstrated superior mastery in all important aspects of the course. He/she participates actively in the course, is prepared, and attends all class sessions. The “A” student speaks and writes clearly, insightfully, and creatively. S/he is a role model for other students.

BAbove average work. The “B” student has mastered most of the fundamental course concepts, and is able to apply the most important concepts of this course. S/he generally, ____although there is room for improvement, and writes well. S/he is often engaged in class discussion, attends class regularly, and is generally prepared.

CAverage work. The “C student understands the most important concepts, and is able to apply some of theseconcepts. S/he is engaged in class discussion sometimes. Written communication is adequate, but could use improvement. S/he attends most class sessions and submits work on time following the minimum guidelines presented in the syllabus.
