INCLUED 5 FITNESS COMPONENTS, F.I.T.T, SKILL COMPONENTS

You all just graduated college and have decided to go into business together. You all played sports in college and each have different degrees. Each of you have one of the following as a degree:

  • Sports Science
  • Sports Management
  • Business Management
  • Accounting

From the above degrees you have each taken on a role as a business partner investing 25,000 a piece to get a commercial loan from the bank.

Now you are ready as a team to start and plan out your fitness center and will follow the below plan to present to the bank for building loan and later to the community to begin registering your first clients.

Meeting #1: Break the ice (turn in by Oct 2)

  • What type of fitness center and what will be your focus:

  • Mission Statement: should include your objective (target), how will gym cover the above fitness concepts (listed in bold at top), who is your targeted market (people), what will the environment of the gym be like, and what will you offer.
  • Financial statement starts up: You start off with $100,000.00
  • Name of Gym

Meeting #2: Property and Layout (turn in by Oct 12)

  • Look for land to buy and build on or look for old building you can buy/rent and remodel. What does it cost and what will you need to borrow from the bank? Need to cite the source you are getting the land information from and print or draw area on paper.
  • What are the special needs for your “focus” clients?
  • What rooms or centers will you have in your gym?
  • What type of equipment do you need for the gym?
  • Layout the gym area, rooms, equipment etc on paper (use website below for easy design layout)

Meeting #3: Bye Bye Money Time (turn in by Oct 18)

  • Research how much each piece of equipment will cost and put a purchase order together
  • List what/why/how much you will have to borrow from bank (put portfolio together)
  • List and cite all sources that you have ganged information from
  • How much will you pay yourself?
  • How much will you charge at your gym? Monthly, Yearly, Semi-Yearly, Membership fees or just one low flat rate
  • What will you need to bring to start building your gym?

Meeting #4: Last step to the presentation and awards and sign up membership (turn in by Oct 24)

  • All will need to make a business card
  • Need to make flyers
  • How will you advertise that you are opening the gym and how much will it cost (include in budget/portfolio to gym)
  • Finish touches on building the gym and final presentation

Meeting #5: Bank Day and Opening Day (week of Oct 26)

  • Will present the model of the gym, layout from computer (print or hand drawn), financial statement, flyers, business cards, mission statement, advertising plan, membership plan
  • All members must be dressed in semi-professional clothing
  • All members need to have presentation memorized (very little reading from paper)
  • Model must be professional work according to your grade level
  • Bank will award the gym that has the best detail presentation with the money for start up (must show in plan how you will pay the money back)
  • Members will be present at bank meeting to vote if they will sign up for membership
