For June 11, 2017 ~ Trinity Sunday ~ Holy Communion. The Scripture is Acts 2:1-21. This is the seventh week in our sermon series on the Fruits of the Spirit. The sermon text is Galatians 5:22B-26 Philippians 2:8 and the message is “Gentleness”.

Samaritan Offering

Your gift supports the Samaritan Program, a benevolent fund which provides financial assistance to residents who have outlived their monetary resources and, through no fault of their own, can no longer afford the full cost of their care. Samaritan Offering gifts will be received until Father’s Day, June 18th. It may be designated to any of our VUMH communities. Undesignated gifts will be used where the need is greatest. Envelopes are placed in the Commons.

Children and Their Safety are Important at

Chestnut Hill UMC

We rejoice that as a church we are able to offer carefully planned, age appropriate care and activities for our children and youth.

Today, children ages 4 and above will stay in the sanctuary for worship.

Nursery is provided for infants and toddlers. The Nursery is located in Classroom 101 (exit through the right side door at the front of the sanctuary, pass through “the Commons,” go through the double doors to the Education Building and follow the hallway to the Nursery at the end of the hall on the left).

*Call to Worship

Let us come together and celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit!

For when we have been weak, the Holy Spirit has sustained us.

When we have journeyed in Christ's name, the Spirit has guided us.

When we were sick or in harm's way, the Spirit of the Lord was with us.

When we have sought understanding and wisdom, God's Spirit led us.

Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that, as the Scriptures are read and your Word proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
