Incentive Special Pay (ISP)

ISP is a discretionary bonus given to qualified Nurse Corps officers who are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and who agree to remain on active duty for a period of not less than 1 year as computed from the effective date of the CRNA ISP contract.

To be eligible for CRNA ISP, the officer must:

  • Maintain full CRNA privileges in nurse anesthesia and is practicing that specialty as a primary duty.
  • Demonstrate adequate levels of military and professional performance.
  • Maintain current CRNA certification.
  • Be otherwise eligible for ISP but in advanced education required for certification as a CRNA and whose performance meets military and professional standards of adequacy.

The effective date of eligibility for ISP will be the latest date of the following:

  • The day of entry upon extended active duty.
  • The day following completion of CRNA training while on active duty.
  • The day after completion of an immediately preceding CRNA ISP agreement.

Commanding Officers are not authorized to approve CRNA-ISP agreements for Nurse Corps officers applying for CRNA ISP. Agreements must be submitted to M1-32 for approval.

Officers who do not have projected active duty time sufficient to enter this agreement must request an extension of active duty from NAVPERSCOM (PERS-4415).

Current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) ISP rates are as follows:

ONE YEAR SERVICE AGREEMENTS / ANNUAL AMOUNT
