Incentive Special Pay (ISP)
ISP is a discretionary bonus given to qualified Nurse Corps officers who are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and who agree to remain on active duty for a period of not less than 1 year as computed from the effective date of the CRNA ISP contract.
To be eligible for CRNA ISP, the officer must:
- Agree to remain on active duty for a period of not less than 1 year.
- Maintain full CRNA privileges in nurse anesthesia and is practicing that specialty as a primary duty.
- Demonstrate adequate levels of military and professional performance.
- Maintain current CRNA certification.
- Be otherwise eligible for ISP but in advanced education required for certification as a CRNA and whose performance meets military and professional standards of adequacy.
The effective date of eligibility for ISP will be the latest date of the following:
- The day of entry upon extended active duty.
- The day following completion of CRNA training while on active duty.
- The day after completion of an immediately preceding CRNA ISP agreement.
Commanding Officers are not authorized to approve CRNA-ISP agreements for Nurse Corps officers applying for CRNA ISP. Agreements must be submitted to M1-32 for approval.
Officers who do not have projected active duty time sufficient to enter this agreement must request an extension of active duty from NAVPERSCOM (PERS-4415).
Current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) ISP rates are as follows:

A 30 day grace period from the release date of NAVADMIN 003/05 (13 Jan 05) exists that allows for retro ISP back to 1 Oct 04. Request must be endorsed and dated by respective CO’s by COB 13 Feb 05.
To avoid delays in receiving ISP:
- Ensure you have enough years of active duty service for your requested service agreement.
- Ensure there is no overlap of contract anniversary dates.
- Ensure proper dollar amount.
