In this analysis we will compare the teaching in the 'Amplified
Bible' (AMP) (1972 printing) to the King James Bible (KJ).

Gen. 1:5,8 KJ: 5 "... And the evening and the morning were
THE FIRST DAY." 8 "... And the evening and
the morning were THE SECOND DAY."
AMP: 5 "... And there was evening and there was
morning, ONE DAY. 8 "And there was evening
and there was morning, A SECOND DAY."
COMMENT: On day 3 God made the GRASS and the TREES.
Then, on day 4, God made the SUN. Question:
Could the grass and trees have gone '1 million
years' without sunlight BETWEEN day 3 and day
4? Of course not! So, just like the King James
says, there were NO "GAPS" between the 6
literal, and SEQUENTIAL, days of creation.
The AMP robs God of his glory in CREATION.
Gen. 1:21 KJ: "And God created great WHALES, ..."
AMP: "God created the great sea monsters ..."
COMMENT: God creates sea monsters?
Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL."
AMP: "... and man became a living being."
Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is
that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL".
Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA."
AMP: "... land of Cush."
Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush?
Is the AMP's 'Cush' a "simpler, more easily
understandable word", than the King James's
"ETHIOPIA"?
Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall
not surely die: For God doth know that in the
day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good
and evil." ------
AMP: "But the serpent said to the woman, You shall
not surely die, For God knows that in the day
you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you
will be as God, knowing the difference between
------
good and evil, ..."
COMMENT: This is major blasphemy! God (with a big G) is
not evil! Think about the difference between
"as gods" and "as God".
Gen. 11:1 KJ: "And the whole earth was of one language, and
of ONE SPEECH."
AMP: "... one language, and of one accent ..."
Lev. 3:13 KJ: "... and the sons of Aaron shall SPRINKLE the
blood thereof upon the altar ..."
AMP: "... and the sons of Aaron shall throw its
blood against the altar ..."
Deut. 32:22 KJ: "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and
shall burn unto the lowest HELL, ..."
AMP: "For a fire is kindled by My anger, and it
burns to the depths of Sheol, ..."
COMMENT: HELL IS GONE in this verse in the AMP.
Joshua 12:23 KJ: "... the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, ..."
AMP: "... the king of Goiim in Galilee, ..."
COMMENT: Is the AMP's 'Goiim' a "simpler and more
easily understandable word" than the
King James' "NATIONS"?
Judges 7:20 KJ: "... The sword OF the Lord, and OF Gideon."
AMP: "... and they cried, The sword for the LORD and
Gideon!"
COMMENT: Big difference in those two meanings.
2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee
[that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my lord,
O king."
AMP: "... Ziba said, I do obeisance; let me ever
find favor in your sight, my lord, O king."
2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath
..."
AMP: "... Elhanan ... slew Goliath ..."
COMMENT: WHAT? 'Elhanan slew Goliath'? Sunday school
CHILDREN know that DAVID SLEW Goliath! The
AMP translation 'scholars' really blew this
one. Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality

Scholar for scholar the translators of the KJ
Bible were far greater men of God than any
today. John Bois could read the Bible, in
Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent
in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek,
Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know
English (and better) etc. etc.
2Kings 23:7 KJ: "And he brake down the houses of the
SODOMITES, ..."
AMP: "And he broke down the houses of the male
cult prostitutes, ..."
COMMENT: "SODOMITES" are watered down to just 'male
cult prostitutes'. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION
(Lev. 18:22), but the AMP has removed sodomy.
Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found
the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen
their DVD and I believe it is real.

Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..."
AMP: "The wicked shall be turned back ... into Sheol
..."
COMMENT: The AMP has DELETED hell. Is this an attempt
to sell more AMPs?
Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN
stand at his right hand."
AMP: "Set a wicked man over him [as a judge], and
let [a malicious] accuser stand at his right
hand."
COMMENT: In this verse in the AMP Satan has been
REMOVED.
Prov. 23:14 KJ: "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt
DELIVER HIS SOUL FROM HELL."
AMP: "You shall whip him with the rod and deliver
his life from Sheol ..."
COMMENT: Again, HELL is GONE in the AMP.
Isaiah 14:12 KJ: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER,
son of the morning! ..."
AMP: "How are you fallen from heaven, O light-
bringer and day-star, son of the morning! ..."
COMMENT: WHO is fallen from heaven? The AMP doesn't say.
The King James says who: It's LUCIFER. Lucifer
is GONE in this verse in the AMP.
Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from
the wind, ..."
AMP: "And each one of them shall be like a hiding
place from the wind, ..."
COMMENT: "A MAN" here can be no one but CHRIST. Just
another case of setting the Lord Jesus aside,
and giving us a substitute. Think how serious
all these corruptions are, and how they destroy
the word of God by substitution.
Daniel 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE
SON OF GOD."
AMP: "... And the form of the fourth is like a son
of the gods!"
COMMENT: It was Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD, who was
with Shadrach, Messach and Abednego. It was
Jesus Christ who saved them from the fiery
furnace. And, it is Jesus Christ who saves you
and me from the fiery furnace (i.e. Hell).
There is a big difference in "THE SON OF GOD"
and 'a son' of plural 'gods'! The 'scholars'
missed this one. Think about it.
Daniel 7:10 KJ: "... THE JUDGMENT WAS SET, and the books were
opened."
AMP: "... the court was in session - and the
books were opened."
COMMENT: The JUDGMENT OF GOD has been removed.
Hosea 11:12 KJ: "... but Judah YET RULETH WITH GOD, AND IS
FAITHFUL WITH THE SAINTS."
AMP: "... and Judah is not yet steadfast with God,
with the faithful Holy One."
COMMENT: The AMP is not close.
Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but in
me [is] thine help."
AMP: "It is your destruction, O Israel, that you
have been against Me, for in Me is your help."
COMMENT: How did Israel get destroyed? The AMP does not
tell us.
Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the
flock! ..."
AMP: "Woe to the worthless and foolish shepherd who
deserts the flock! ..."
Comment: Idol and worthless/foolish are very different.
Zech. 13:6 KJ: "And [one] shall say unto him, What [are] these
wounds IN THINE HANDS? Then he shall answer,
[Those] with which I was wounded [in] the house
of my friends."
AMP: "And one shall say to him, What are these
wounds on your breast - between your hands?
Then he will answer, Those with which I was
wounded [when disciplined] in the house of my
(loving) friends."
COMMENT: This is a verse prophesying Jesus Christ. Jesus
was wounded IN HIS HANDS (and on his back), BUT
NOT ON HIS BREAST! And, Jesus WAS NOT BEING
DISCIPLINED; he did nothing wrong! Lastly, he
WAS in the house of "HIS" friends, but they
WERE NOT BEING 'loving' back to him!
Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary)
a publick example, was minded TO PUT HER AWAY
privily."
AMP: "... Joseph, ... decided to .. (DIVORCE) HER
quietly ..."
COMMENT: Think on this. What a DIFFERENCE! The meaning
is far-reaching and a lot is involved.
Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where
Christ should be born."
AMP: "... he ... anxiously asked them where the
Christ was to be born."
COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus,
(and wanting to DO AWAY WITH HIM) did not
'ask' where Christ should be born. He
"DEMANDED" to know!
Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry
with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in
danger of the judgment: ..."
AMP: "But I say to you that every one who
continues to be angry with his brother ...
shall be liable ... by the court; ..."
COMMENT: WHAT? The AMP says you CAN'T be angry with
your brother?!!! Brothers and sisters: The
Apostle Paul was angry and withstood the
Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus
was angry with the Church at Pergamos because
of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes
(Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but sin
not (Eph. 4:26). And it says not to let the
sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King
James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his
brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of the
judgment. There is a HUGE difference between
those two verses.
Matt. 5:44 KJ: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, BLESS
THEM THAT CURSE YOU, DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE
YOU, and pray for them which DESPITEFULLY USE
YOU, and persecute you;"
AMP: "But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for
those who persecute you,"
COMMENT: The AMP leaves out everything in capital
letters.
Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him,
MASTER, I will follow thee ..."
AMP: "And a scribe came up and said to Him, Master,
I will accompany you ...'"
COMMENT: When someone 'accompanies' you, they walk side
by side. We need to FOLLOW Jesus as the King
James says.
Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto
heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..."
AMP: "And you, Capernaum, ... shall be brought down
to Hades ..."
COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the AMP.
Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than
the temple."
AMP: "But I tell you, Something greater ... than
the temple is here!"
Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights
in the WHALE'S belly; ..."
AMP: "For even as Jonah was three days and three
nights in the belly of the sea monster, ..."
COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ makes 'sea monsters'?
Matt. 13:39 KJ: "... the harvest is the end of the WORLD; ..."
AMP: "... the harvest is the close ... of the age,
..."
COMMENT: The harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD.
Matt. 16:3 KJ: "... O [YE] HYPOCRITES, ye can discern the face
of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs
of the times?"
AMP: "... You know how to interpret the appearance
of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs
of the times."
Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church;
and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against
it."
AMP: "... on this rock ... I will build My church,
and the gates of Hades ... shall not overpower
it- ..."
COMMENT: HELL IS GONE in this verse in the AMP.
Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man IS COME to save that which
was lost."
AMP: "For the Son of man came to save ... that
which was lost."
Comment: The AMP says Jesus Christ "came" to save that
which was lost, a PAST TENSE statement. The
AMP implies that ALL who were to be saved,
HAVE BEEN saved. Not true. Anyone TODAY can
be saved by Jesus Christ. The correct reading
is PRESENT TENSE. This AMP corruption is very
subtle, but very important.
Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..."
AMP: "... Why do you ask Me about the perfectly and
essentially good? ..."
Matt. 23:8 KJ: "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your
MASTER, [even] Christ; ..."
AMP: "But you are not to be called rabbi (teacher),
for One is your Teacher, ..."
COMMENT: Jesus as "MASTER" is watered down to just
'Teacher'.
Matt. 23:33 KJ: "[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how
can ye escape the DAMNATION of hell?"
AMP: "You serpents! You spawn of vipers! How can you
escape the penalty to be suffered in hell ..."
COMMENT: "DAMNATION" is watered down to just 'penalty'.
Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the WORLD ..."
AMP: "... Tell us, ... of the end ... of the age?"
COMMENT: Jesus ISN'T being asked about a "new time
period", or a "new dispensation". He is being
asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There
is a difference.
