“In The Shepherd’s Field”-Lk.2:8-14

saw a sight they would never forget…v.20…Lives where

impacted and changed forever…given the first announce-

ment of the Savior….considered on the lowest rung of the

social level…their work kept them away from the temple

and the synagogue…rendered them ceremonially unclean

…what a God of grace we serve!!!!came to a shepherd’s

field…lowly shepherds…a Savior would be born **title***

I-Busy Shepherds (v.8)

A-he feeds his sheep

1-****green pastures****sheep food****

B-he folds his sheep

1-bring them in close, especially at night, so the predators would

not kill them

2-a good shepherd would give his life to protect his sheep!

C-he finds his sheep

1-leave the ninety and nine and go search for the lost one

2-many other things too!

3-***faithfully serving****The Great Shepherd is coming!!!

II-Beautiful Sight (v.9)

-glory verified the truthfulness and authenticity of the message

they were about to hear

A-the glory at Sinai (Ex.24:16): tells us the glory cloud covered

Sinai for 6 days. Out of that glory came the voice of God and

the writing of the 10 Commandents

B- the glory in the tabernacle (Ex.40:34):”A cloud covered the tent

of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the

Tabernacle.”

C-the glory in the Temple (I Kings 8:11):”So that the priests

could not stand to minister because of the cloud:for the glory

of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.”

D-the glory on the Mt. Of Transfiguration (Mt.17:5): “While he

yet spake,behold,a bright cloud overshadowed them: and

behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my

beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.”

E-the glory around the Virgin (Lk.1:35):the power of the

highest ‘overshadowed the virgin Mary…

to “overshadow” means to envelope in a haze of brilliancy

…out of that brightness came Jesus

F-the glory in the field

1-the most insignificant, looked down upon, and despised of man

can experience the wonders of God’s grace and the glory of God

2-****”Heaven came down and glory filled my soul; when at the

cross, the Savior made me whole.”****

III-Blessed Statements

A-a good word (v.10a)

1-the reason for their fear

a-sky lit up and an angel began talking*********

b-sometimes fears are justified****coffin****

c-many of our fears are not ***old man***

2-the release from their fear ..”fear not”…Lord is competent,

caring, controlling

B-a glad word (v.10b)

1-world is filled with gloom…bad news…negative

2-“great joy”******

IV-Babe-Centered Sign (v.12)

---Jn. 3:16..Jesus was born to die…the God-man to die for

the sins of every sinner who would ever be born!!!!!!

V-Burst of Speech (v.14)

A-praise to God (v.14a)

B-peace to men (v.14b)

1-“Prince of Peace”..Is. 9:6

a-peace with God..Rom. 5:1-“Therefore being justified by

faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus

Christ.”

2-peace of God…Paul declared:”The God of peace.”
