Intercessions –10a.m., Sunday21stOctober 2007

In the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ, let us pray to the Father.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your Son, Jesus Christ to hear us as we pray in faith.

We bring to you our joys and concerns, for ourselves and for those we love; for the world and for our worldwide family.

In Jeremiah,we heard about God’s second covenant and how he would forgive our sins. A covenant fulfilled in Christ Jesus. We pray for his Church throughout the world, its saints, priests, bishops and laity.

We ask that we may be filled with the knowledge of your will and through spiritual wisdom and understanding live in a manner worthy of the Lord.

Strengthen our bishops and all your Church in the service of Christ, that those who confess your name may be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.

Dear Lord. We pray for those in authority. We heard in Paul’s letter to Timothy about the authority of the Bible. In our lives help us not to “make it up”, not to have “itching ears” to hear what we want to and to suite our own desires, but rather to hear your truth. Guide us and our leaders in your ways.

Bless and guide Elizabeth our Queen; give wisdom to all in authority; and direct this and every nation in the ways of justice and of peace; that we may honour one another and seek the common good.

Lord, in this half-term holiday we pray for all the teachers and staff who look after our young people in this town.

We pray for John O’Gaunt TechnologyCollege, its teachers, assistants and leadership team; that it may provide a challenging and interesting place of learning which caters for all the various needs and abilities of the children of the town.

We pray for the teachers and assistants who work tirelessly to develop our younger children in HungerfordPrimary School; the CroftNursery School and Little JOGs.

We pray for all teachers: help them to teach with “utmost patience”; with wisdom; teach with truth; provide a vision of how the world can be; and to teach with and in the knowledge of your love.

Give grace to us, our families and friends, and to all our neighbours, that we may serve Christ in one another and love as he loves us.

Lord, in your mercy
