In honor of black history month:

  • Louis Freeman is proud of achieving a lists of "firsts" - integrating Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas; becoming the first African American cadet corps commander in both his high school ROTC and college (graduating from East Texas State University). After finishing pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Texas, Freeman was assigned to fly 737's in Sacramento. 1980 Freeman left the air force to become the first African American pilot to fly for Southwest Airlines, and in 1992 he became the first Black chief pilot for a major U.S. airline. In this capacity he was responsible for overseeing all flight operations of the 150-pilot base and ensuring that all procedures exceeded FAA requirements.
  • Huge congratulations are in order for our Boys and Girls Varsity basketball teams. The NCS selection committee has just posted the CIF NCS D5 brackets and both teams have earned an 11 seed!Boys will be hosting #6 St. Bernard's from Eurekaon Wednesdaynight at Coast Guard Island!7pm. They earned the right to host by defeating CSD last night in the BCL Championship game, 48-38. Girls will be traveling to Sonomaon Wednesdaynight to play #6 Sonoma Academy, game time8pm. The girls fought hard, shorthanded, but ultimately fell to #1 seed Holy Names 39-32 Saturday Night. Your presence and support at CGIon Wednesdaynight would be HIGHLY appreciated!
  • Attention all CGI Mentees: If you are interested in attending the following event, please obtain a permission slip from Ms. Wong or Ms. Frost and turn it in prior toFebruary 21, 2017: OMI/CGI Mentor Event (MSST 101, a K9 demo, and a static display of a boat and MLE/FP equipment) at Coast Guard Island. Uniform: PT Uniform.
  • HS Cadets, if you are interested in attending the last CHALLENGE DAY of the 2016- 2017 school year, please obtain a permission slip from Ms. Frost or Dr. Smith. Space is limited to the first 100 cadets who turn in a completed permission slip.
  • Are you interested in learning about the Police Explorer or Police Cadet program? There will be a presentation in Regimental Headquarters onFebruary 22nd at 12:30pm. If you are interested, please receive a pass from your teacher to attend.
  • The snack vending machine is off limits until further notice. Anyone attempting to put money into the snack vending machines will lose their money. The water and Gatorade machines are still available
  • Today is the only day that pledges who passed their cadet test are allowed to pick up their Uniforms in Supply afterschool.
  • Mass promotion will begin onMarch 13th. More information will be announced at a later date. Cadets are reminded to continue to study. Make sure that you are studying for your next rank.
  • If you are taking the AP Test in May, your form is due immediately to Mr. Stremberg in room 1.
  • If you are interested in becoming Command Sergeant Major or Battalion Sergeant Major, applications are available in Regimental Headquarters.
  • Drill team practice is canceled for the duration of the week and will resume next week.
  • The Wan TuWanzari wrestling club will be held at Oakland Techon Tuesdayand Thursdays from 6-8. This a big opportunity for anyone interested in wrestling. You'll be coached by Wrestling Hall of Famer Ashlee Sherman and you will be able to travel to Local, National and state meets and tournaments. For further information contact Cadet Maliq Manning.
  • This year's Cadet Corps summer camp will be the biggest in more than 20 years. Let's have a big OMI turnout and represent Grizzly Pride! Sign up atsummercamp.cacadets.org. Registration is $75 untilMarch 1stthen it goes up, so sign up now!
  • The Commandant will not support Cadet Corps summer camp attendance for Cadets who consistently fail to wear their uniforms properly. The Commandant will also remove Grizzly Dress and other class privileges such as Double Lunch for cadets who fail to wear their uniforms properly.
  • We also like to congratulate Noah Dey on his performance in the third round of the American Legion Oratorical Speech competitions. He came close in second place to a student competing from Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon. He is the alternate competitor if the winner can't make it to states in March. Noah still does qualify for regionals. When you get a chance make sure to congratulate Noah on his accomplishment.
