Ceremony of Commissioning Parish Readers

Those to be commissioned are invited to come into the main aisle after the homily.

Fr Chris:Almighty God, we come to know you in your word of Life.

It was your word that brought all into being

Look with favour upon these sons and daughters of yours

who today, pledge their service at the Altar of your Word.

Deacon Jim: In the name of Christ, I ask you to come and place your hand on God's

Holy Bible and promise to serve heart and soul in the ministry of the word.

The Readers standbefore the Priest, one by one & place their hand on the Gospels.

Fr Chris:Receive the Word of God. Believe what you read and live what you believe.

Reader:MAY THE WORD OF GOD BE IN MY MIND, IN MY HEART AND ON

MY LIPS. MAY THE LORD HELP ME TO WORTHILY PROCLAIM

THESE HOLY SCRIPTURES.

The priest prays for all the Readers.

Fr Chris:Holy Spirit of God and inspirer of the Word, may the Word of God draw

us deeper into the mystery of your love.

Help us to understand and respond to your word with our lives.

It was the Divine Word that brought creation out of chaos.

Let it bring a new creation into the chaos of our lives.

It was your word that the prophets spoke to arouse people from their

luke-warmness.

Let it bring the fire of your love into our lives.

Make us hunger for your word, for it speaks to us of Jesus Christ, who

alone can satisfy our desire for eternal life and knowledge.

We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord.

All:AMEN.

All return to their seats.
