The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner announced at the Awards Dinner in Wellington, 13 October.

Federated Farmers Agricultural

Broadcast Journalism Award

Applications are now open for the Federated Farmers Agricultural Broadcast Journalism Award. This award has been established by the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators and Federated Farmers.

The award has been established to recognise excellence in the broadcasting side of agricultural or agribusiness journalism, either radio of television, and will cover all aspects of the genre – hard news, features, technology transfer, etc

The Federated Farmers Agricultural Broadcast Journalism Award recipient will demonstrate excellent understanding of farming issues and the agribusiness sector, and effectively communicate with the target audience – farmers, rural communities, stake holders, urban and town audiences etc.

Entries must be of TWO programmes broadcast in the 12 months to August 31, 2017. You must supply links to each of the broadcast items by email.

Any New Zealand-based journalist or communicator is eligible to enter the award. You can only put in one entry per person, unless part of another shared entry

The Award can be made to a group or team. If a team wins the Award, it is to be shared between those named on the entry form.

The Award will be judged on the overall quality of writing or scripting, how interest is captured and complexity explained, and also on the choice and relevance of any supporting information.

The judges will not consider aspects out of control of the entrants. However, entrants must however make clear on the entry form which aspects of the submission were beyond their control.

The winner will receive $750 and the prize awarded at the Guild Awards Dinner in Wellington on 13October, 2017. Where necessary, the costs for the winner to travel to the dinner will be paid.
