Students cleaned out their binders and desks. All worksheets from last quarter were placed in a manila folder. Please leave the worksheets at home and sign the folder. The signed empty folder should be returned to school tomorrow.

 4/20 – 4/24 Students will have time to complete their display boards and practice presentations in school

Class Updates

We cleaned out our desks and binders. We had a class meeting to set goals to accomplish in our last quarter of 3rd grade.

Students went to Art today.

In Math, we solved two-step word problems. Students wrote equations with a letter for the unknown.

In Writing, students continued writing a petition.

In Reading, we learned about the characteristics of traditional stories. We read The Fisherman and the Turtle and students identified what type of traditional story it is.

In Social Studies, students used what they researched about their country to create an interview with a made-up person from their country.

Students went to Music today.

In Math, students took a pre-assessment for what they will learn next quarter. We played Jeopardy to review all that we learned about fractions.

In Writing, students continued writing a petition.

In Reading, we found the meaning of the quote "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." by Emma Lazarus. Students illustrated a picture to show the meaning.

In Science, students conducted an experiment to see whether plastic or metal was a better conductor. Students taped a chocolate chip to the end of each spoon and placed the spoons in hot water. We observed which chocolate chip melted more.

Students went to P.E. today.

In Math, students continued multiplying 1-digit numbers by multiples of 10.

In Writing, students continued writing a petition.

In Reading, we read The Story of the Statue of Liberty. We created a Venn diagram on the Chrome Book that showed similarities and differences between this book and Emma's Poem.

We did buddy reading with Mrs. Batky's kindergarteners.

In Math, we identified the characteristics of multiples of 10 by looking at examples and non-examples. We used that to help us come up with a definition. Students then multiplied 1-digit numbers by multiples of ten.

In Writing, students continued writing their speeches about their opinion.

In Reading, students presented their book reports. I am so impressed with how creative their presentations are!
