Annette Island School District(AK) $5,262,429AnnetteIslandisasmallislandlocatedofftheSoutheasterncoastoftheAlaskamainland,andisentirelyIndianland.Thedistrictwillusegrantfundstoconstructanewcareerandtechnicaleducation(CTE)buildingforitsMetlakatlaHighSchoolstudents.Currently,theCTEprogramishousedinthreeseparatefacilities,allofwhichhaveextensivestructuraldamageorshortcomingsthathaveledtosignificantsafetyissuesforstudentsandstaff.Thecostofrepairingoneofthecurrentbuildingstohousealloftheprogramstogetherwouldbesignificantlyhigherthanbuildinganewfacility,asthereismajorstructuraldamagetowalls,pilasters,ceilings,steeldecks,exteriorinsulationandfinishingsystems,androofing,alongwithnecessarymechanicalandelectricalupgradesduetodamagefromwaterintrusion.

Heart Butte School District (MT)$1,764,973HeartButteSchoolDistricteducates169studentsin gradesKthrough12ontheBlackfeetReservation.TheHeartButtecampusissharedbythehighschoolandtheelementaryschool.Themainscopeofthisprojectistoreplacetheexistingdeterioratedandleakingroofsofthehighschoolandelementaryschoolportionofthebuildings.Theroofsofthesetwobuildingsareapproximately53,000sq.feet.Theseroofshaveexceededtheirusefullifeexpectancy.Alldamagecausedbyroofleakswillberepairedinthisprojectandtheproposedroofrepairswillmeetcurrentbuildingcoderequirements.Aspringrunsagainstthebackwallofthebuildingcreatingmoistureandcausingleakage.Thiswillbecorrectedbybuildingawalltodivertitsflowawayfromthebuilding.Areinforcedconcretesidewalkwillbeconstructedaroundtheschooltoallowtheemergencyexitdoorstoleadtoapublicway.Skylightswillbeaddedtobringinmorenaturallight.Thedistrictwillcontribute$1,025,274ofitsownfundstothecostoftheproject.

Ganado Unified School District #20(AZ)$3,225,809GanadoUnifiedSchoolDistrict,locatedontheNavajoReservationinnortheasternArizona,willperformmoldremediationandreplacethestuccosystemontheexteriorwallsatGanadoHighSchool.Theexteriorstuccosystemhasdelaminated,andinsomecases,hasfallenoffthebuildings,leavinglargeopeningsthatallowwaterandsnowtopenetratethebuilding.Thepoorconditionoftheexteriorstuccohasledtoextensivemoldbetweenthestucco andtheinteriorwalls.

Painted Desert Demonstration Projects(AZ)$1,077,340TheSTAR(ServicetoAllRelations)Schoolisacharterelementaryschoollocated25mileseastofFlagstaff,Arizona,neartheSouthwestcornerofthe

NavajoNation.Around95%ofthestudentbodylivesonIndianlandthatincludesLeupp,TolaniLake,andotherpartsoftheFlagstaffarea.Theschooliscompletelyoffthepowergridandisservedbysolarpoweronly.Withthisgrant,theLEAwillbuilda4,000squarefootadditionontoanexistingbuildingwithadditionalsolarpowerasneededthatwillprovidetwoclassrooms,onespecialeducationclassroomandalibraryroom.Thegrantwillupdatethesolargridtofullypowerthefiresuppressionsystem, andalsoprovidefundstorepairaseverelyruttedfireaccessroadtoensuresafetyofbuilding occupantsincaseofanemergency.Further,grantfundswilladdressrodentinfestationbyconstructingastemwallaroundthetwomodularbuildings,eliminatingallrodentaccesspermanently.

Fort Totten School District(ND)$3,615,250FortTottenservesstudentslivingontheSpiritLakeReservationineasternNorthDakota.Withgrantfunds,thedistrictwillbuildanewfacilitytohouseitsalternativehighschoolandCTEprograms.Theoldfacilitybecameseverelywaterdamaged,andthedistrictwasforcedtoevacuateduetomoldanddustlevelsthatwerethreetimeshigherthanwashealthy.TheCTEandalternativehighschoolprogramiscurrentlylocatedinasmallerspaceatTateTopaTribalSchoolonatemporarybasis.Thenewfacilitywillrestorewhatthedistrictlost:classroomsandlabspacesfor6teachersand55‐75students,restrooms,storage,administrativeareas,andcounselingareas,tototal9,560squarefeetofnewspace.

Red Lake Independent School District(MN)$504,280RedLakeIndependentSchoolDistrict,whicheducatesstudentslivingontheRedLakeReservationinnorthernMinnesota,willuseitsgrantfundstoreplacethedamagedandleakingroofonPonemahElementarySchool.Thedistricthaspledgedtocontribute$73,000ofitsownfundstotheproject.

Lodge Grass Elementary School District(MT)$734,483LodgeGrassElementarySchoolDistrictserves186studentsatLodgeGrassSchoolontheCrowReservation.TheelementaryfacilityissharedwithLodgeGrassHighSchoolandavocationaleducationalportionoftheschool.Thistotalschoolareacoversapproximately143,360squarefeet.Thebuilding’sprimaryplumbingfixturesandpipinghavereachedtheirusefullifeexpectancy.Thedistrict’sgoalistocompletelyreplaceallexistingwaterrelated plumbingfixtures.Allfixturesandpipingwillbereplacedthroughoutthebuildings.AllexistingcopperwaterpipeswillbereplacedwithupdatedPEX,atypeofplasticpipingthatwillaidinleakpreventionandincreasethelifeofnewfixtures.Itwillcauselessdegradationoftheplumbingfixturesovertime.

Thedistrict’splanistoupgradeplumbingtomodernizedfixturesandpipingtotoday’senergyefficientandcodecompliantstandards.Accessible,ADAcompliantfixtureswillbeinstalledwhererequired.
