Imagine Your Goals Update:
Imagine Your Goals is a two-year programme, funded by the Premier League and Comic Relief, which aims to improve social inclusion and wellbeing for people with mental health problems and their carers, as well as tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.
Many have promoted Imagine Your Goals and Time to Change in their match day programme and websites, but there has been a big push to support the latest campaign burst: “It’s Time to Talk”, using various media mechanisms.
On Saturday April 9th, Sue Baker and Wolves and Wales’s midfielder David Edwards signed the Time to Change pledge to end MH stigma and discrimination, during the home game against Everton.
An excellent article about the Imagine Your Goals project at Wolves - Head for Health - and support by the club for Time to Change was penned in the magazine and website, with a section by the club Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, in his own programme notes. The new Time to Change/its Time to Talk film was shown on the club tvs around the stadium.match day programme, with an additional section in the programme notes of the Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, with a photo of him with his personal pledge board. Wolves Manager Mick McCarthy shows his support with a personal pledge.
Hull City showed the new Time to Talk transvision clip on their big screens at a home game in April, then the Time to Talk advert itself at the next home match two weeks later.
Tottenham Hotspur showed the transvision film at their home match against Blackpool in early may, on their huge ‘jumbotron’ screen, both pre-match and at half time. Another great success this month was Liverpool starting to show the Time to Talk advert on their own subscription TV channel ‘til the end of august. This is going out 6 times a day, with an estimated weekly viewing of 450, 000 people.
Fulham FC are putting a Time to Change piece in their final home game programme on Sunday, 22 May, for the match against Arsenal, and have kindly embedded the Time to Talk advert on their club website. We are hoping to get all sixteen clubs to contribute in these ways, both pre-season and next Premier league season.
Other events to watch out for: Portsmouth FC Imagine your Goals project are holding a big 5 a-side tournament on 4th June, at the Roko sports centre, involving a broad range of teams from all over the city and beyond, where we will have a TTC stand.
