I'm not Cruel to Animals!

My husband says I act cruelly toour dog! He just doesn't understand! What looks like a cruel act is really an act of kindness. Kindness really doesn't fit the description though. I need another word to describe my so called cruelty toour dog Wrigley. What I do to that "poor little dog" is beyond some people's comprehension. You should know that I say that in the spirit ofunderstanding that you can't possible see what I am doing to the little beagle dog unless you knew what I was thinking. What appears as cruelty is not only fun for me, but fun for this well cared for pampered dog. You have to believe me! If you know me, and most of you do, you'd know that I don't go around abusing animals. If you don't mind, I'd like to take a few steps forward andcome back to this little "abused beagle."Oh, and by the way, as a side note, before I "abused" this beagle dog, I also "abused" a 90 pound german Shepard dog. And justto let you know he lived until he was 15 years old!

Living in the Moment

Many of you have probably read about or heard about the idea of living in the moment. I remember first reading about it, and then trying to practice living in the moment myself. It wasvery awkward practicing because I really didn't know how to practice it.For example, I'd say to myself whenclearingout the garage, washing dishes or some other non exciting chore, "live in the moment-have fun with this chore-these times now are the best days ofmy life."I had no clue as to whatI should be thinking or not thinking, so I just made it up. I knew only that the books saidlet go of the past, let go of the future, and experience joy now!!That part was pretty clear. How to get there was not so clear. I think this was done on purpose though because each one of us, as I later came to realize, needs to find out whatever it is that we need to find out on our own. Living in the moment philosophy purports to help people anchor themselves in the joy of the moment and regardless of whatever it is thatthey are doing. Living in the moment proponents would say that in our society we are always thinking about what we have to do - the future- andwhat we did do - the past. Neither states, they contend, allow us to feel joy and experience meaning because we are inundated with what we have to do and what we already did. Living in the moment proponents further purport that wecan control neither state and in so trying we siphon the joy right out of the only time we have, which of course is now! Just to let you know, I do believe in the idea that living in the moment can help one be more healthy and happy. Living in the moment doesn't mean thata personcan't reflect on the past to see where they may make changes, but living in the moment can softenourthoughts on things we have done but cannot change.Living in the moment doesn't mean that we don't plan for the future but it does mean that our time in the present can be more enjoyable if we are not looking to see what we should or could do next. Having said that I suppose I better bring this to some sort of conclusionrelated tothedog story orI amgonna lose some really good readers!! Before I do though, I would like to let you know that......

It's All about Anticipating

Having read that heading I'm sure you are thinking, and again pardon me for supposing what you may be thinking, but I think you are thinking there is some irony going on here. Why isshe suggesting that there is value in living in the moment, but yet reflecting on the topic of anticipation? After all, anticipation involves looking to the future. Anticipation involves the notion of what is to going to happen, and it is not held as an idea of the here and now. What is she thinking. Tell me now or I'm outta here!!!

OK, OK, but first we'll need to....

Visit my Dog

Imagine for a moment a beagle.Beagles, if you don't know, are known for their cheerfulness. They are known for other things as well, but I like to capitalize on their strengths. Some of their other positive attributes are that they are cute, easy to please, and most importantly in my mind, they aredogs of fervent sniffing passion. It's what they live for. They live to sniff. It's not the sniffing that is intriguing butthe passion to do the sniffing which is so intriguing to me. You see, I am a believer in anticipation. Anticipation makes everthing we do more exciting.Anticipation is a mindsetthat can be used to our advantage if we do it right. So just to let you know, here is the answer to why my husband thinks I am cruel to our beagle. I say the words, " Do you want to go for a walk boy?" That's it!!! Really! That's allIsay!I'm cruel to animals!! That's me!!Crucify me! ...... One tidbit of information you may want to know is that I don't let him out right away for a walk. And yes, sometimes I make him wait up to an hour before I actually takehim for a walk. You guessed it, this is where my husband and I part philosophies. You see, Wrigley the beagle gets all anxious and excited about the opportunity to go out for a walk and sniff. That's exciting stuff fora dog. This is a good thing. He gets to live in the moment, justas we talked about, but with aheightened sense ofpossibility. And the good news is that after he calms down from the excitement, that's all I have to do is ask him if he wants to go for a walk again. The anticipatory excitement starts all over again and he canagainlive more vivaciously in the moment. He's a lucky dog, contrary to what it may look like from the outside. I've created excitement for him. Excitement he would never have had in those moments of time if I would havetaken him outside for a walk immediately. By now, you know the question I am about to ask you. I'll also ask myself, and that is, what can you do to create anticipatory excitement in your life? Is there anything right now that you are anticipating? And, how can you use it to elevate your momentsright now? One last question. How is anticipation related toyourhealth?

FREECOACHING SESSION!Diabetic, Pre diabetic, or Those Just Looking to Prevent Diabetes,You Need to Know!

I am going to steal word for worda quarter of a pageof the You Staying Young Book under the section YOU TIPS! Follow me: "Diabetes and it's effects can steal one third of your life. Luckily, if you can do three major things-control your blood pressure-walk thirty minutes a day- and keep your blood sugar within a narrow range- you'll practically eliminate the cardiovascular risk associated with diabetes. And that makes diabetes, though one of the scariest diseases of all, one of the most controllable. You can often manage it yourself without oral medication, and without having to shoot yourself with insulin, if you know the steps to take." Dr's Roizen and Oz wrote this on page 149 of their most recent book.

For one moment let us focus on the last sentencethat they make, which is "that you can manage it yourself...... , if you know the steps to take." I'm being a littleliteral here but I think that I need to be. We do not control diabetes harmful heart effects by "knowing" what steps to control. We control it by actually doing the steps. I think this distinction must be made because all too oftenwe know the health information out there and what we should and should not do. And that is why many times in my articles I downplaythe health information and strive to apply the insight for actually doing it. What we need to do is to take that information that we know and apply it. That is difficult. If it was easy, thenmost people would have perfect blood sugar levels.WhatI am offering to you today if you are diabetic, or pre diabetic, or even if you are just concerned that you mayget high blood sugar, is one no obligation coaching session 45 minutes in length. There is no obligation and I will extend a 50% discounted rate of $125.00 monthly if you choose to continue. Please feel free, and thank you, for extending this program to your circle of friends and family. I look forward to hearing back from you! My e-mail address is .
