C. Caucus for election of Steering Committee members and Nominating Committee members—at this point in the agenda senators will collect with their school/college colleagues to select one of their senators to serve on these two committees. Approximately ten minutes will be allotted for this activity, and senators are reminded that these are important committees. The Steering Committee meets as often as the Senate (meeting each time with the Provost), sets the agenda for Senate meetings, serves as an important advisory body to the Chairperson (and to the administration), and advises or approves many important appointments. The nominating committee will assign senators to committee assignments if they have not yet served on a standing or ad hoc Senate committee. At its first meeting the Nominating Committee will elect a chair.
