I.Course Description

Basic English I is a review of basic writing skills, basic grammar, and reading skills. Emphasis is placed on the composing process of sentences and paragraphs in standard American written English. Students will demonstrate these skills chiefly through the writing of well-developed, multi-sentence paragraphs. Students will also be introduced to basic reading skills. To complete ENG 092 and be permitted to take ENG 093, students must finish the course with a minimum grade of “C,” or 70%, and retake the AccuplacerWrite Placer exam and make a minimum score of 3. Those students who make less than 70 on the reading section of Accuplacer will also be required to retake the reading portion of Accuplacer at the end of the semester. If the student makes less than 70 on the retake, he/she will be required to register for RDG 084 the next semester.
