BYO Retailer Webinar Scheduled

The BYO Ethanol Campaign will host its next webinar on Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. CT. The webinar, entitled “Pipeline Changes Leave Unanswered Questions – Ethanol Provides Answers,” will discuss the recent switch of available products at fuel terminals in mid-September that has led to premium shortages and outages. In fact, some branded agreements have been temporarily waived due to the lack of approved fuels to sell. Fuel retailers now have many questions on what products they can and should offer. Ethanol blends like E15 and E85 can be quite attractive considering available incentives and recent market economics. The webinar will cover options for retailers, explain requirements to sell higher ethanol blends, expound market demand, and detail what incentives are available to offset any needed investment. Please visit for more information and to register for this event.

E15 Debuts in Minnesota

The Twin Cities welcomed the first E15 station in the state this week at a Penn Minnoco station. The owner of the station is a big supporter of ethanol, and has plans to offer E15 at additional locations in the coming months. E15’s debut in the state marks Minnesota as the 11th state to offer the blend.

More E85 Stations Open

Like clockwork, more E85 stations continue to open each week. This past week Propel opened a new station in Murrieta, Calif. This is Propel’s third station in Riverside County. The company operates more than 40 stations in California and Washington state, and has plans for 200 more. Kum & Go also opened the first E85 station in Bentonville, Ark., this week. Other companies reportedly opened others across the country.

Ethanol Retailer Workshops Conducted in IA, IN, MI & OH

RFA and The Andersons hosted four ethanol retailer workshops in four states last week. These workshops included presentations from staff of the RFA and The Andersons, and included lunch and an ethanol plant tour. These workshops were aimed at marketers, retailers, suppliers, and other interested parties. Individuals representing hundreds of stations throughout the four states attended these workshops.

If you are interested in hosting similar meetings in the future, please contact Robert White.

Need Help with E15/E85 Questions?

Staff answers questions daily from marketers and retailers on how they can offer E15 and/or E85. There are several options, but there are also requirements at both the federal and state level that need to be met prior to offering either fuel. It is important that the fuel is sold correctly and safely. If you know of a marketer or a retailer that is considering it, please have them contact Robert White.

Willing to Help Host a Retailer Meeting?

If you would be willing to help host a retailer meeting, or meetings, in your area or at your office, Robert White would like to talk to you. RFA continues to schedule meetings across the country with retailers to discuss E15, E85 and blender pumps, but cold calls do not always work. RFA needs your first-hand relationships to get them into the seats to hear the business case for offering more ethanol-blended fuel. The amount of work needed from you would be limited, and no financial investment required, just looking for the connection. If you are interested, please contact Robert White.

Dispenser Labels Available for All Blends

The RFA continues to offer no cost labels to marketers and station owners for E15, mid-level blends and E85. If you would like to order, or have retailers needing them, please contact Missy Ruff at or (402) 391-1930.
