The Elks National Foundation and the local Elks Lodges are pleased to offer the following scholarship programs to the senior class students attending area high schools.
Most Valuable Student Scholarship (MVS): Through this scholarship competition, the ENF will offer 500 awards ranging from $1,000 to $12,500 a year for the 2017-2018 through 2020-2021 academic years. Awards are given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th places and runner up. This award program is offered to high school seniors who are US citizens and will be enrolling in a 4 year undergraduate degree program at accredited US American colleges or universities. Applications are available by download from the ENF website at www.elks.org/scholars/scholarships/mvs.cfm
Deadlines: Complete online application, NO LATER THAN 5PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
Emergency Educational Grants: The Emergency Educational Grant provides financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks who wish to obtain or further their college educations. Grant amounts are based on the information submitted in this application and can range up to $4,000. The grant is for one year only; however, the student may submit up to three annual renewal applications for succeeding years as long as he or she meets all other eligibility requirements. The applicant cannot accept more than one ENF scholarship/grant in any one academic year. Detailed eligibility requirements can be found at www.elks.org/scholars/scholarships/Eefgrants.cfm. Legacy Awards: Through this scholarship competition, the ENF will offer awards of $1,000 a year for the 2017-2018 through 2020-2021 academic years. This award program is offered to high school seniors who are the child, step-child, grandchild, step-grandchild, or legal ward of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2014 or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2014. The Elk must be a paid-up member through March 31, 2017. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. Student must be a US citizen who will be enrolling in a 4 year undergraduate degree program at accredited US American colleges or universities. Applicants must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) by December 31, 2016. If you are selected as a 2017 Legacy Awards recipient, you will be required to perform a service project once a year with an Elks Lodge during the four years you are receiving the scholarship. Weigel Medical School Scholarship: The ENF is pleased to offer an exclusive scholarship opportunity just for Elks scholars pursuing a medical degree or Osteopathic Medicine degree. The Gunther & Lee Weigel Medical School Scholarships are $20,000 scholarships offered to Elks scholars (current or alum) entering their first year of medical school. The scholarship established through the generosity of the late Lee Weigel, widow of Gunther Weigel. If you are planning to attend an accredited U.S. medical school to pursue a medical degree or Osteopathic Medicine degree, consider applying before you begin your first year of medical school. The application is available in January by request via email at or through phone by contacting ENF office @ 773.755.4732.

Roger J. Sheridan Memorial Scholarship: This award program is offered to any students in the graduating class of a high school, or its related equivalent, with plans to enter college to undertake a career in Physical Education may enter the competition. Two scholarships will be awarded (male/female) and the amount will be determined by the trustees of the trust fund but will be in excess of $500. This is a one year only scholarship and is conditional upon the enrollment of the student in an accredited American college or university. Grant applications for eligible students are available through the Elks Lodge in the area in which the applicant has legal residence or by contacting the club’s scholarship chairperson.
Deadlines: Application must be delivered to the Springfield Lodge #1560, NO LATER THAN Monday, January 2, 2017.
Springfield Lodge #1560 Scholarship: This $500 award is offered to high school seniors who are a US citizen and will be enrolled at a 4 year undergraduate degree program at accredited US American colleges or universities. Application for eligible students is available through their local guidance office, #1560 Springfield Elks Lodge or by contacting the club’s scholarship chairperson.
Deadlines: Application must be delivered to the Springfield Lodge #1560, NO LATER THAN Friday, April 7, 2017.
