TGz Meeting Minutes – Vancouver, BC, Candada

March 9, 2009 PM2 Session

Daniel R. Borges (Apple, Inc.), the secretary of TGz, is absent in TGz Vancouver meeting. So, Yongho Seok (LG Electronics), the temporalry secretary, will be taking meeting minutes.

Meeting Minutes

  1. Meeting called to order by the Chair Menzo Wentink (Qualcomm) @ 1600 PST.
  2. The chair presented IEEE SA SB Patent Policy and Procedures (slides #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5).
  3. The TG members did not (a) express any knowledge of essential patents that influences TGz and (b) any concerns/issues that the WG chair needs to be aware of.
  4. There are 10 members attending this session.

5.  The proposed agenda is found in document 09/0314r0.

6.  The next motion is to approve the Vancouver TGz meeting agenda.

Motion 1: Approve the TGz Vancouver meeting agenda (09/0314r0)

Mover: David Hunter (Panasonic)

Seconder: Yongho Seok (LG Electronics)

Result: Unanimous Motion passed

So moved and approved

7.  The next motion is to approve the LA TGz meeting minutes.

Motion 2: Approve the LA meeting minutes (09/0099r0)

Mover: David Hunter (Panasonic)

Seconder: Yongho Seok (LG Electronics)

Result: Unanimous Motion passed

So moved and approved

8.  We will now be looking at the comment resolution document found in 09/0313r0.

a.  Menzo (Qualcomm) is opening the comment spreadsheet.

b.  The document number of the comment shpredsheet is 09/0313r0.

c.  Menzo (Qualcomm) is adding some lost comments into comment spreaheet.

d.  The total number of comments is about 160 comments.

e.  Menzo (Qualcomm) is sorting the comments by first name.

f.  We are starting the comment resolution from CID 112.

i.  CID 112 – Open
Menzo (Qualcomm): Change Awake time to Slot time.
Graham (DSP Group): It is reasonable to use the slot time instead of the fixed time.

David (Panasonic): It is better to add a reference about the backoff mechanism.
Menzo (Qualcomm): But, let’s defer this resolution because we need more discussion.

ii. CID 32 – Counter
The definition of TDLS is clearly defined in the draft for showing the difference with DLS defined in 802.11e.
But, after additional discussion on the name of title of TGz draft, we decide to rename the amendment title as “Extentions to Direct Link Setup”, per the TGz PAR.

iii.  CID 33 – Counter
The term of peer is reasonable. But, the term of compeer is not well-known term in TGz members.
Also, the resolution is related with CID 32.

iv.  CID 34 – Decline
The management information for TDLS setup is really encapsulated with data frame.

v. CID 35 – Counter
In only security section, the term of DL is confusing with Direct Link.
So, in Page 23, Line 8, delete the confused sentence.
In Page3, Line 25, delete the definition of DL.
In Page 23, Line 46-47, after Menzo will ask Kafle (INTLE) to delete these sentences, it will be deleted.
In Page 24, Line 5, replace “DL” with “TDLS direct link”.

vi.  CID 36 – Decline
See CID 33.

vii.  CID 37 – Decline
DLS direct link can not switch to off-channel like TDLS. So a station using DLS never become the IDO station.

viii.  CID 38 – Accept
Section 5 is describing a high level description.
If we add the detailed explaination in Section 5, it can make additional comments for objecting the detailed explaination in Section 5. But, under discussion, we decide that it is better to add the additional explanation in Page 3, Lince 41 and Page 54, Line 34.

ix.  CID 39 – Decline
TDLS means the protocol set, including Setup, Teardown, Power Save Mode, Channe Switch and AP PHY Rate.
And, “Setup” in TDLS Setup just sepeficies TDLS establishment protocol.

x. CID 40 – Decline
After quick check of TGv draft, we find that there are several other occasions of 3-primitive service definitions.

xi.  CID 41 – Decline
TDLS frame format is definetly clear in section 11.20. And, the Ethertype capsultation that is used in TGz is part of the TGz baseline. (per TGr)

xii.  CID 42 – Decline
TDLS is not used in IBSS as specifed in section 11.20. It already implies that there will be no TDLS direct link in the IBSS.

xiii.  CID 43 – Decline

xiv.  CID 44 – Accept

xv.  CID 106 – Accept
Duplicated comment. See CID 44.

xvi.  CID 45 – Accept

9.  Menzo (Qualcomm) uploads the revised comment (09/0313r1) spreadsheet

  1. Menzo (Qualcomm) has recessed the session at 1800 PST.

xi.  CID 62 – Declined
See CID 61.

xii.  CID 63 – Counter
See CID 61.

xiii.  CID 64 – Counter
Section 11.4.1 is just describing the TS operation. So, instead of Section 11.4.1, after the third paragraph in Section 11.20, adding some sentences for disabling simultaneous operation of DLS and TDLS between one fair of stations.

xiv.  CID 65 – Accept

If we change “may” to “shall”, a STA supporting Peer U-APSD shall allow the peer STA to enter Peer U-APSD.
After some discussion, we decide that we need to add the following. Supporting Peer U-APSD may set the Peer U-APSD Support subfield to 0, to indicate the lack of support for U-APSD on this link.

For entries 10, 11 and 12 change “is true. Included for Satus Code 10.” into “is trun and if the Status Code is 0.”. Because those entries do not have some conditions related with MIB.
