Ideal Block Weekly Schedule
Below there is a detailed weekly block schedule but, it breaks down to:
Day 1-Weekend review and vocabulary introduction.
Day 2-PQA with vocabulary (start story)
Day 3-PQA review with story
Day 4-Story review and changes
Day 5-Tests, writing, reading, etc.
Day 1
- Weekend Review (5 minutes to write and 10 to 20 minutes CI)
- Talk about the kids weekend
- I would recommend very structured vocabulary for the first month or two. For example only give the verb to go for the day.
- Introduce structures (5 minutes)
- Develop an action with the class and review all old actions.
- Brain break (1-5 minutes)
- Yo veo, push game, review actions, ball game (keep beach ball in air as long as possible), Story share with partner or class, simon dice
- Start PQA (15 to 20 minutes)
- Personalized questions for the students using key structures
- Quiz (5min)
- 3-4 question quiz about what happened in class that day
Day 2
- Al Entrar (10-15 minutes)
- 3-4 questions using the vocabulary from the prior day
- Circle and PQA answers
- TPR Review (5 minutes)
- Actions from week and whole year
- Brain break (1-5 minutes)
- Yo veo, push game, review actions, ball game (keep beach ball in air as long as possible), Story share with partner or class, simon dice
- PQA continued or story (30 minutes)
- After story is told/created go over the story multiple times
- Quiz (5min)
- 3-4 question quiz about what happened in class that day
Day 3
- Al Entrar (10-15 minutes)
- 3-4 questions using the vocabulary from the prior day
- Circle and PQA answers
- TPR Review (5 minutes)
- Actions from week and whole year
- Review vocabulary in PQA (5 to 10 minutes)
- Story (15 to 30 minutes)
- After story is told/created go over the story multiple times
- Quiz (5min)
- 3-4 question quiz about what happened in class that day
Day 4
- Al Entrar (10 minutes)
- 3-4 questions using the vocabulary from the prior day
- Circle and PQA answers
- TPR Review (5 minutes)
- Actions from week and whole year
- Story review
- With actors
- Change the ending or details
- Put it in past tense (treat like its new)
- Vocabulary quiz
- Aloud. Teacher says the words in Spanish students write the meaning in English
- Quiz (5min)
- 3-4 question quiz about what happened in class that day
Day 5
- Al Entrar (10 minutes)
- 3-4 questions using the vocabulary from the prior day
- Circle and PQA answers
- TPR Review (5 minutes)
- Actions from week and whole year
- Story review
- Reading/dictation/ change ending of story/change subject of story/etc. (20 min)
