Unfinished Business
Copyright issues concerning the sharing of photos and articles submitted by Peg Johnson.
Images need a copyright watermark - FALSE
Federal copyright laws clearly state that photography remains the property of the photographer, with or without copyright watermarks.
Images and articles on the internet are free for anyone to use - FALSE
If you download an image or article from the internet and use it in a for-profit manner (such as advertising), you are in violation of federal copyright laws. You are illegally using someone else's intellectual property (the image) for your own personal gain. You are also risking litigation should the photographer choose to recoup damages. The easiest way to ensure that you are properly using the images is to request permission from the photographer.
Postings to the net are not granted to the public domain, and don't grant you any permission to do further copying except perhaps the sort of copying the poster might have expected in the ordinary flow of the net.
The above is our gray area folks. However I would recommend something like the following be added as needed to the group disclaimer, the newsletter, etc.
Images and articles posted to the ISAA/Chapter groups/newsletters and may be used by the ISAA and/or shared with our ISIC partners. If you do not wish to share posted information, please notify the group moderator/newsletter editor/etc.
Judi agreed to check each time on each photo/article with owner prior to publishing.
Research for a new chat room submitted by Shellie Greyhavens
The BRCC will try using Skype for a possible chat room for the BOD and report back at the next meeting.
New Business
Newsletter Review: It seemed appropriate that the BOD see the newsletters before they go out to the membership. Because it is one of the key sources of information within the club, it is important that we insure relevant information is included. Judi agreed to send the Newsletter to the BOD prior to publication.
Calendar: We need to start preparing for next year's calendar if we make some changes this could be a tremendous opportunity for the club to increase our revenue by selling advertising. A committee could choose the selection of photos. Judi agreed to head up a committee. Some thought $250 per ad for breeders would be good amount. Dog food companies/stores will be contacted to place ads. Donna agreed to buy the first ad.
End of Year Reports: Due January 31, 2009 – Spike has submitted Rescue, Title & Events, and Constitutional Committee reports to BOD on 01Jan09. Everyone can meet deadline.
AISC August 2009 Gathering Approval Approved by unanimous vote of BOD.
Waiver of fee for Prins: Because DeDe and family took Prins in as a rescue/foster dog. They kept Prins for several years and it seems inappropriate to charge them for relinquishing him to a new home when he was a foster dog to begin with. DeDe has already sent a check to Judi. Approved by unanimous vote by the BOD. Judi will send DeDe a check as her check was already posted.

Overview will be provided by Shellie of history re: situation with two recent examples. This was tabled due to lack of time and discussion will follow in the BOD email. Liz will lead discussion.
