Dear Parents,

I would like to explain why I was unable to attend Back-to-School night last evening. Unfortunately, I had a slight mishap last weekend. I lost my footing getting off our boat and slipped into the water, hitting my left side into the finger pier. Luckily, I did not lose consciousness and was able to get back on the boat with my husband's help. We were near Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland, where I was diagnosed with two fractured ribs, multiple bruises and a pulled shoulder. I consider myself lucky, the consequences could have been much worse. I have been on medication and resting and I am on the mend. Hopefully, I will see everyone next week.

We had the first Activities Period on Tuesday, September 6th. All students were able to be put into their first or second choice of an activity for the first Trimester. We think that this will give many students the opportunity to participate in clubs or activities that they enjoy and learn from as well. Students that did not turn in their choices will be placed in the groups as we receive their signed permission slip. I have been impressed with the choices we are able to offer due to the diversity and creativity of our faculty and staff!

Mr. Ray DiVirgilio will again lead our band program this year. Band students will meet on Fridays. He will begin this Friday, September 9th, and will again bring in instruments for students in grades 4 through 8 to try if they are interested. This program has a fee attached and students must rent their instrument. Mr. DiVirgilio will have the necessary paperwork on Friday to distribute to students who ask.

I will try to answer some lunch questions that have arisen:

  • The main course or sandwich is ordered monthly. Please click on Menu at the top of the page to see in list view; circle what you would like to order.Drinks and other a-la-carte items will be bought daily.
  • Only the items listed on the menu and as a-la-carte items will be available. There are 3 lunch choices daily. A-la-carte items are listed on the front page of the Lunch Program section of the website.
  • Lunch credits will not be issued for an absence but if there is a missed day that parents have ordered, that lunch will be served on the earliest possible day in the next month and be counted as paid. An example is that we are out of school on Sept. 26th and many students have ordered lunch. That particular lunch (pancake/sausage or French toast/sausage) will be served on October 3rd.
  • Once Power Lunch is set up (we are working on this) you will send in a lump sum to put on your child’s account. Each time the student swipes their ID card, the balance will go down and all items will be paid through this account, including a-la-carte choices. You will receive an e-mail and a note each time your balance decreases below a certain amount.

I thank you for your patience and cooperation as we get this Power Lunch up and running.

The Youth Activity Council will be holding its first general meeting on Monday, September 12th, at 6:30PM in the Ballad Room. All parents are encouraged to attend. This wonderful program ensures that our children participate in a variety of sports teams throughout the school year.

Don't forget to turn in your membership renewal to BJs by September 19th! You will get a $10 discount on a year membership as well as 3 additional months for free. The school earns $5 per membership. You may renew now for any member ship which expires within a year. This is a painless fundraiser; you will pay for what you buy anyway and support St. Anthony's. If you have misplaced your form, please inquire at the office. Thank you in advance!

Remember to purchase your gift cards and earn $ off your tuition as well as $ for St. Anthony Grade School! This is another painless fundraiser. You will be receiving an explanation and gift card order form. You may always find these on our school website click on gift card program on the home page. The office will also have copies if needed.

Peace and all good!
