Prior to the actual start of the session, an introduction shall be presented on radiation physics to assure that all staff is familiar with the basic concepts of dose and shielding assessments. This shall include an understanding of ionizing radiation, photon interactions with matter, as well as health physics basics.

The Contractor shall then introduce the main functions of the software package to ensure that the BRP staff understands and defines the radiation source and geometry, the source and shield materials, source terms, build-up factors, and finally, numerical solutions.

The training shall include a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on exercises where students perform a variety of sample problems under the guidance of an instructor(s). Also included in the training shall be a limited demonstration copy of MicroShield®, along with sample problems, as well as an electronic copy of the presentation material.
