I participated in the Certified Trainer Program, completing 1015 hours of on the job training experience. The experience, knowledge and skills I learned while completing the program have given me the confidence and understanding in order to start my own business as a certified trainer. The extensive knowledge Lori Peper- Rucks possesses of dogs in all areas is truly exceptional.
Training included hands on experience in obedience training from puppy to adult dogs, behavior modification, Service Dog, Search and Rescue, Narcotic, police K9 and hunting dogs. I also gained experience and training in understanding bloodlines, breeding programs and raising puppies with an emphasis on exceptional breeding in understanding the importance of temperament and intelligence. I was also given training and experience with my own dog Shadow, who is now a certified narcotics detection dog. I learned multiple training skills, and was also given understanding of the varieties of training methods used in other areas. Business understanding in how to build clientele, work with the public, raise funding, and start your website were all covered. I received first hand experience on actual Search and Rescue missions and learned skills not just with in the realm of dog training but also in search and rescue tactics. Not only did I learn to work with the k9s I also worked with police officers, fire fighters, families, the disabled community, and hunters as well.
The value of teaching classes first hand, training a service dog for someone and seeing the processes through to placement of the dog, knowing a dog you helped train is going out into the world to help a community is an unmeasurable skill and an unmatched fulfillment. The relationships formed between myself and customers was an unforgettable experience and the bond I made with so many of the dogs was an experience that cannot be described.
Training with Lori was direct and understandable. Sunshine kennels is not a cookie cutter training program. Lori is knowledgeable and flexible in her approach enabling her to fix problematic situations. She has an extensive and exceptional knowledge and skill for working with these dogs. She has an obvious passion for the communities and families that she works with that is contagious and which I am proud to say she has passed on to me in my training. The training and certification I have received have enabled me to start building my own company, breeding program and to work with my own dog in my community. I would recommend this training program to anyone who is looking for a career as a dog trainer in any spectrum of the field.
