I.  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the general public and to all members of the CSU Channel Islands Student Government that:

A meeting of the Student Government Senate will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at California State University Channel Islands, Student Union Conference Room (room 1080), located at One University Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012, to consider and act upon the following matters:

Public Forum

Public forum is intended as a time for any member of the public to address the Senate on issues affecting any student(s) and/or organizations of California State University Channel Islands.

I.  Ray Perez spoke about him being back at work and is working to find solutions for parking issues on campus

II.  Sandy Gannon talked about her role in parking and transportation services

i.  Meeting Setup – Chief Justice Burns (5 minutes)

  1. Chief Burns talked about the proper set up for our senate meetings
  2. Senators, Vice President, Director of Operations and Chief Justice sit at the table
  3. All other executive members sit with the members of the public

c.  Discussion Item

i.  Food Pantry Names – Vice President Pelayo (10 minutes)

  1. Names that Student Government like:
  2. Bermuda Pantry
  3. Ekholocation Pantry
  4. Dolphin pod
  5. Forever Full
  6. Foodie McFoodFace

ii. Tuition Proposal and Advocacy– President Noyes and Director Mena (30 minutes)

  1. Senator Ewing likes the idea that Vice President Pelayo came up with, for students to send postcards to Governor Brown
  2. It is very important for Student Government to educate students about this potential change
  3. Ramon Porras likes this idea and finds it important for us to share our stories with legislatures
  4. Senator Sailor yields time to Samir Azizi, he recommends that we look into change.org to create a petition
  5. Director Mumford proposes that we should work with the CI View to get information out to students

iii.  Student Government Website – President Noyes (30 minutes)

  1. Add a group photo of our current student government representatives
  2. Move group photo to the front of our page
  3. Update contact information
  4. Add the legislation that we have added
  5. Add “Student Government Accomplishments”
  6. Possible idea to live stream our senate meetings

iv.  Maximus Questions – Director Mumford (45 minutes)

  1. Adding an alumni Maximus award
  2. Senator Sailor believes this would be a great idea
  3. Senator Heim likes the idea
  4. Chief Christopher likes the idea
  5. Director Mumford explains the Maximus award and that it is a Student Government award that is given at the Legacy awards at the end of the year (which student leadership puts on)
  6. There are four maximus awards that are given to one student, one faculty member, one administrator and one staff member; if alumni were added to these categories then there would be a total of five awards
  7. Trying to edit the criteria of this award in order to reach outside students (other than ASI people)
  8. Creating an ongoing form for ideas about the maximus award
  9. Possibly on the white board
  10. Possibly with post it notes
  11. Possibly in a google doc
  12. Possibly having a meeting about changes for this award and inviting Genesis Delong to this meeting, as she helped change the criteria two years ago and knows about the history of this award
  13. People who would interested in meeting outside the senate meeting
