Projects @ the Orphanage
Vigilant Heart Charitable Society Orphanage Project isestablished for the provision of shelter, care, protection and development of motherless babies, orphans, abandoned children and other vulnerable children. Our orphanage is a seedbed of sociability and virtues for children. It provides a framework of love for nurturing children and for overseeing their personal development in freedom and responsibility.
In doing this we are conscious of the fact that children have right to grow up in a family with a mother and a father capable of creating environment for the child's development and emotional maturity.

Vigilant Heart Charitable Society provides materially or otherwise formal education for less privileged children. We identify children who are at risk and cannot accessquality education. Our goal is to use the power of education to change the lives of children that are underprivileged or living in poverty. The aim is to ensure that education imparted brings changes not only in the amount of knowledge gained but also in the abilities to think and to acquire good habits, skills and attitude which characterisean individual who is socially accepted and adjusted.
Anyone can be distressed by poverty but for children there may be additional important consequences such as having to drop out of school, absence of critical healthcare or being stigmatised by their peers for wearing old or torn clothing etc.

Pregnancy Crises Counseling Project (Abortion Alternatives)
In this Project we work to ensure that life is preserved at all stages in life and that unborn child is protected and welcomed to life. Many girls with unwanted pregnancy often find themselves in a quandary over what to do. We comfort them in their doubtful and confused state of mind, but also instruct and encourage them to practise purity of actions along with purity of thoughts and desires in their future relationships.
We believe that God has a plan for all of us even before he created us in the womb. Therefore, God's beautiful plan must not be thwarted through abortion or other evil ways.

Mobile Soup Kitchen Project
This project has been in existence long before Vigilant Heart Charitable Society was established in 2007. The Founder, Mrs. Maria Osawemen, had been doing the work of charity in the streets of Lagos and at Majidun Rehabilitation Centre, Ikorodu; Corrective Centre; Remand Home; Girl's Approved School, Idi-Araba etc.During that period she passionately displayed and has continued to demonstrate self- sacrificing charity in the care and protection of children and in the management of the various projects of Vigilant Heart.

The VHCS Mobile Soup Kitchen is a paradigm shift in combating social and moral vices. It is an apostolic work that has helped to raise the hope of children and women who have no hopeand restored their faith in human nature.

Chaplaincy
Vigilant Heart Charitable Society has a chaplain, a Reverend Father from the Catholic Church. The main objective of the chaplaincy is to build in the children a solid life of piety which focuses on an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
This is in line with our philosophy which encourages us never to pass up any opportunity to be kind, and to give whatever bit of time in our hands to help the needy and vulnerable children.
